Thanks to the totally awesome and amazing KatSings, I now have two new books gracing my library shelves! I suppose I could have waited until Christmas to open them, but one already has a slight tear in the paper, so I just helped it along. 🙂 I am super excited; this is a series and an author I’ve heard a lot about, but haven’t gotten around to diving into yet and now I have no excuse! Thank you, KatSings! (I also want to […]
Our Cannonball Holiday Tradition – Book Exchange
It’s time for our Cannonball Holiday Tradition – Book Exchange! Katie (faintingviolet) has offered to handle the arrangement of the exchange again this year. You can email her directly with any questions and to sign up (see the directions below). The CBR Book Exchange is completely voluntary, but it’s a nice way to add another layer to our sense of community here at CBR and a lovely excuse to purchase something via the Cannonball Read Buy Hole. Remember, 100% of the percentages generated through the Buy Hole go […]
Book Exchange Book 2 – Delicious Mystery
This was my second book given to me this year for the Pajiba Cannonball Read Book Exchange. My benefactor picked two in my “to read” list off of Goodreads, and gave this one a glowing recommendation, and they were not wrong!! This was a real page turner, I was obsessed with seeing how it all played out! Missing children, murder, detective partners with secret histories, the wood with its own secrets of present and past. At its roots the story isn’t that complex, and […]
A CBR book exchange book finds its mark.
First off, Malin gave me this book as part of the 2014 CBR book exchange. For the past couple of years, my romance reading has pretty much been “Courtney Milan,” also thanks to Malin (and Mrs. Julien), but after reading A Week to be Wicked, […]
A wonderful start to 2015
I had the most wonderful surprise waiting for me when I got back from two weeks in the UK. Well, we had random patches of cat vomit spread around the flat as a loving Christmas gift from our two cats, who we callously abandoned to be fed and looked after by various friends and family members, but I also had a package waiting for me on the living room table. So after feeding the demanding furry dictators we pretend are our pets and cleaning up […]
A thank you turned into an essay
This wonderful cannonball book exchange inspired an essay on the importance of the tangible in books; a subject close to my heart. Coming home my apartment seemed slightly bleak and dark compared to the sparkling holidays where my parents lit candles and christmas carols endlessly adorned a gold and silver tree. Instead, in my apartment, on the other side of Christmas, was completely overthrown with books and scraps of paper. It was a reminder of my deadline in January. A deadline that seemed a large, […]
