Romance to start the year!

Under the Mistletoe with You by Lizzie Huxley-Jones

January 1, 2025 by faintingviolet 3 Comments

Two years ago, my first review of the year was Make You Mine This Christmas by Lizzie Huxley-Jones. I loved that book, it’s a 4.5-star banger that I hope more and more people find and enjoy. I received it through my Illumicrate Afterlight subscription, and a few months ago they alerted me that they would be doing an exclusive edition of its follow-up Under the Mistletoe with You which I immediately scooped up and saved for my holiday week reading.   Under the Mistletoe with […]

Sorry this isn’t really a review but I’m posting it anyway because I want everyone to read this book.

Make You Mine This Christmas by Lizzie Huxley-Jones

Oh you’d best believe i have some quotes to post from this delightful book. But tomorrow bc I’m tired. Okay, it’s tomorrow, here are some quotes. Honestly, the plot in this one is four-star but the writing is what bumped it up to a five for me. This book vibrates at exactly my frequency and thus I am insulted it did not receive a print release and isn’t being widely read. The dialogue in this book made me want to pack up my life and […]

“Let me be clear, Gwendolyn. I would rather be swallowed up into the bowels of hell and enter an arrangement with the fallen angel Lucifer than date Jordy Miller again.”

Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced listeners copy. It hasn’t affected the contents of my review. This was very nearly a five-star book for me, but the third act conflict didn’t really work for me, so it’s a four now. This made me very sad because the rest of the book was so much fun. What we’ve got here is your standard “I dated a first-class prick this one time until he cheated on me and now he wants to date me […]

“If you can see me, it’s because I’m letting you see me.”

The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian

July 23, 2022 by faintingviolet 4 Comments

I loved this book. I loved the very concept of The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes when it was announced, I loved wondering what the story could be. When we get to the end of The Queer Principles of Kit Webb it isn’t a cliffhanger, but there are a lot of loose ends which still need to be tied up – this is the book that does that tying, while unraveling and re-weaving a few threads of its own. So, what is this book? The […]

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli

CBR11Bingo – Pajiba! This book was briefly reviewed on Pajiba here, seems we feel similarly! Leah Burke seems to be on an even keep as she navigates senior year, stepping closer to her future college career at the local state school, where she’ll even have her friend Abby there. But naturally things start to shake up, as tends to happen in senior year.  First, Abby and Nick break up. Abby doesn’t think their relationship can hold-up long distance, and Nick is heartbroken – as is […]
