Well, that’s Betty alright!

That’s Betty!: The Story of Betty White by Gregory Bonsignore

June 23, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The more I learn about Betty White, the more I am amazed at what she has done. I knew her as an actress and then an animal’s rights activist. I knew she was married. Over the years I would learn she was an icon and not just because she did a Snickers commercial. Then That’s Betty!: The Story of Betty White comes along and Gregory Bonsignore just kept the info coming. She was a producer before women were producers. Her television history started at the […]

National Treasure, Betty White

So I will admit that my first known exposure to Betty White was as the sassy old lady in Lake Placid (one of the greatest movies of all time, and I’ll fight you on that) who feeds her husband to the crocodile. She cracked me up with her foul mouth and her cute little face. I’ve always kind of been aware of Betty White, without ever having watched an episode of Golden Girls or any of the many, many sitcoms, game shows and late-night TV […]

Sigh

If this weren’t written by Betty White, who I adore, this would probably get two stars. And all I can think is that if I don’t have something nice to say about such a lovely person’s writing, I just shouldn’t say anything at all. I’m having flashes to when the Friends would go see Joey’s play and say things like “the costumes were GREAT.” “The lighting, whew, spot on.” I think this book is meant to be a cute gift book, a stocking-stuffer with some […]

An Evening with Betty White

August 2, 2015 by faintingviolet 3 Comments

I have a summertime tradition of reading autobiographies. I tend to stick with ones by comedians of various stripes, but that’s more happenstance than plan. I have had If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t) on my to read list since sometime in the winter of 2012. Well, I finally got my act together and here we are. I’m happy to report that if you love Betty White (and seriously, if you don’t how do you even live with yourself?) and are in […]
