A Beach Read on the Beach

Camino Island by John Grisham

March 20, 2021 by Halbs Leave a Comment

The wildest thing about this John Grisham book is that it’s not about lawyers. Our man John instead focuses on writers, books, heists, and French furntiure. It’s a welcome and pleasant departure for the reader as much as I’m sure it is for Grisham. It’s a fun little novel that would probably make a nice little Netflix limited run series. Or Paramount+, mayhaps. If you like fun but relaxing beach reads with a little bit of danger and sexiness – here you go.   Mercer […]

Big themes in a fun read

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

April 22, 2019 by Wanderlustful Leave a Comment

This is the book that the acclaimed tv series is based on, and although I haven’t watched the show yet (it’s on my to-watch list), the novel makes a quick and entertaining read. Set in a quiet coastal suburb in Australia, the book centers on three mothers whose children are all starting kindergarten together.  Madelaine (Reese Witherspoon’s character in the show) is a feisty and entertaining center to the trio; she takes up battles against other playground moms while dealing with the frustrations of living […]

I Am a Bird

June 12, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I Am a Bird is a great bedtime story. The fact that the character is not mentioned if they are male or female allows it to be an “anyone story.” The illustrations are amazing sweet and simple but wonderfully detailed, too. I would assume by the traditionally stereotypical clothing and hair, that it is a father and son story. Therefore, it would make a nice Father’s Day read-together. However, looking at the cover again, I could easily say this was an older brother or even […]

Along Came Another Patterson Book …

October 17, 2016 by xoxoxoe Leave a Comment

My cousin is on a James Patterson rampage, and has been dragging me along, mostly willingly. I have had so many things going on my life recently, that a lightning fast mystery read is about all that I can handle. in fact, I think it is proving a bit therapeutic. I can’t blame my multiple Pattersons completely on my cousin, however. His books are not just a quick read, but also mostly fun, whether written on his lonesome or with one of his many collaborators. […]
