Re-reading Rainbow.

December 30, 2015 by narfna 3 Comments

[I originally reviewed this book for CBR5. My review can be found HERE.] So I gave into my baser impulses and dove back into my very first Rainbow Rowell book again for the first time since I read it back in February 2013. Audible is the devil and had a $5 sale a couple of months ago, and this was up in there, so I bought it. It was only a matter of time before I gave in. Happy to report this book is just […]

When in Rome…

November 28, 2014 by Orleanas Leave a Comment

Rabid fandom is one reason I’ve yet to watch Titanic and never got into Friends, Lost, among many other highly successful films and TV shows. Instead, I tend to dedicate my viewing time to the underdogs, which is to say that a lot of the shows that I do like tend to get cancelled, i.e. Arrested Development, Life, Chicago Code, Human Target, Men of a Certain Age. To date, The Good Wife is the only one of my faves to have escaped that fate.  With that said, you can imagine how resistant […]

My First Rainbow Rowell

September 22, 2014 by Fiat.Luxury Leave a Comment

I generally avoid romantic comedies as a genre, but there are some that I will watch every time they’re on TV, despite the plot holes etc.; this book felt like those.  It had a good pace and lots of charm, I liked the variety of characters, I loved the depiction of female friendship. Sort of spoilers ahead: My main problem was that Lincoln, although well written, and although I was rooting for him, just didn’t seem all that interesting.  I wasn’t sure what Beth saw in […]

You’ve Got (A Cute Guy Reading Your) Mail

February 18, 2014 by MelBivDevoe 3 Comments

Lincoln O’Neill is stuck, in more ways than one.  He’s living at home with his mother, having recently finished another of his many degrees and not quite ready to strike out on his own.  He’s haunted by memories of his one true love, Sam, the girl who broke his heart in college.  He’s also feeling bound by his job.  It was supposed to be “internet security” for the local newspaper – protecting the company’s computers from hackers, for example – but instead, he sits all […]
