Liar Liar Pants Incredibly on Fire

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

November 4, 2024 by dreadpiratekel Leave a Comment

This was very much a case of right book, right time. First Lie Wins: the spy thriller that wasn’t

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

mood music: Secrets – the weeknd Yet again, I find myself in the minority opinion after my latest “read.” I chose to listen to the audiobook version of this title while nursing a cold, and while the first third of the story was intriguing and well-paced, the latter two-thirds fell apart for me in a way that I had to read a summary to understand what happened at the end. First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

In five words: twisty, Louisiana, thriller, identity, high-stakes Having had success with my new foray into reading and running with Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter, I needed something else to read as I geared up for my first half marathon (GULP). And this book literally helped me get to the finish line, with a twist in the book that hit me in mile 10 and distracted me from the absolutely nuts activity I was trying to complete, and my aching knees. (Spoiler, I finished the race. Woot!) […]

The Lying Woods by Elston, Ashley

May 13, 2019 by cosbrarian Leave a Comment

The Lying Woods is a quiet YA mystery surrounding a family scandal. Owen has just been pulled out of his fancy boarding school upon the news that his father has left town,  taking with him millions of embezzled funds from the fracking company he runs. The company employed most of Owen’s small town, so when Owen is forced to return home and enroll in the public school, he doesn’t have any friends left there – as far as they’re concerned, Owen’s cushy life was lived […]
