First things first: 2014 has been a crazy year. Amidst writing my dissertation, teaching, facing health issues that (thankfully) have been resolved, and unexpectedly having to buy a new car, it’s been hard to believe that I could fit in 52 books this year. “Good for her! Not for me.” The above phrase first appears about a fifth of the way through Ms. Poehler’s excellent book. If you’re familiar with her “Smart Girls at the Party” project, it should come as no surprise that she offers up some pretty sweet life advice. Amy Poehler is basically perfect.
I have been slacking. I’ve been slacking big time. A large part of that is due to a lit class that required me to read 7 novels in 7 weeks and effectively burned me out on reading, period.
