Age-gap romance

Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood

October 21, 2025 by Sophia 2 Comments

CBR17Bingo – “Favorite” because Ali Hazelwood is a favorite author of mine, and I read all of her books. I have read all of Ali Hazelwood’s women-in-STEM romance novels. I tend to read them very quickly because they’re well written, interesting, and fun to read. Occasionally the characters or plot have me shaking my head a little bit, but the books are so enjoyable I don’t mind. Problematic Summer Romance (2025) is Hazelwood’s latest novel, and it has all the trademarks of her brand. The book […]

We’re Wolves

Mate by Ali Hazelwood

October 13, 2025 by NatalieH 2 Comments

CBR Bingo: ‘Black’ The last few Ali Hazelwood books I’ve read have been sort of hit-or-miss for me. I enjoyed Not in Love, was conflicted about Problematic Summer Romance, and hated Check & Mate (it wasn’t a bad book perse, I just don’t think I was the intended audience). I do however really enjoy her writing style, and I’ve been cautiously optimistic about Mate, recently released and the follow-up to last year’s Bride (which was actually the first book of hers that I read). The narrator […]

Scared Sexy Short Stories

Hot for Slayer by Ali Hazelwood

Falling by Christina Lauren

Spicy Little Curses by J.T. Geissinger

Space Vampire by Ruby Dixon

Beautiful Nightmare by Katee Robert

All My Boyfriends are Monsters by Kimberly Lemming

October 11, 2025 by Classic Leave a Comment

I’ve been dealing with a bad mood and migraine for about 24 hours so I just decided to read these short stories before getting back into anything longer. All in all, just a 3 for the entire anthology. This anthology is dark Halloween romance. I stupidly assumed dark romance means stories similar to A Court of Thorn and Roses, but this just seems more like, these all take place on Halloween (well I think most of them do except for that space one) and there’s […]

“You built a nice adulthood over the ruins of a shitty adolescence, my therapist once said.”

Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood

August 7, 2025 by Malin 6 Comments

Nowhere Book Bingo 2025: A book set on vacation   Official plot summary (because it’s better than anything I could come up with): Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.   Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.   It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor […]

Not the kind of in-depth I was looking for

Not in Love (Ali Hazelwood) *** Rue Siebert is a scientist who loves her work. She spends her days at a tech company trying to improve the shelf life of perishables; as a child who dealt with a lot of food insecurity, it is personally important to her. It also provides her with financial stability and her best friend works there too. But then a hostile takeover occurs, and Rue is very surprised to see the man leading the takeover is Eli Killgore – the […]

Swimming, Stanford, and sex

Deep End by Ali Hazelwood

June 26, 2025 by Sophia Leave a Comment

Ali Hazelwood is churning out her feminist STEM romance novels so fast, that I’m barely keeping up. As soon as I discover another one is out, then I join the long waitlist at the library. Deep End (2025) did not disappoint. I loved that the book took place at Stanford with student athletes. I thought the story was interesting, and the chemistry between the leads was great. Was it a perfect book? No, but I enjoyed reading it and would give it four out of five stars. […]
