My father has always insisted that people only say “the book was better than the movie” because they read the book first. In his opinion, if you read the book first, then you spend the movie missing all the characters and scenes they’ve had to cut for time. I wanted to love this book. On the face of it, it ticks off a lot of boxes that appeal to me. It could be that my mind is unfocused right now because a lot is going on at home, but I really think there is a problem with this book.
