Masterpieces of Mystery and the Unknown

Masterpieces of Mystery and the Unknown by Agatha Christie

February 25, 2022 by Classic 2 Comments

I do love this collection. I have never posted a review on it before (no idea why) but it always is something that I try to read every year or so when the mood hits. Usually I will just read my favorite stories, but decided to just do a full re-read right now. I do love that Christie played around with different mystery tropes in this collection. Some of if though touches upon thriller/supernatural genre which she didn’t really include when writing her Poirot and […]

Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories

Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories by Agatha Christie

February 25, 2022 by Classic 2 Comments

February 25, 2022: So I am all about the comfort reads right now. Reading Miss Marple getting the bad guy in the end was just what I needed right now. I also for some weird reason just need to have a physical book in my hands right now. I don’t know if it’s turning the pages that is soothing to me or the smell of the book, but I read this collection and my other short story collection written by Christie that I have in […]

By the Pricking of My Thumbs and Postern of Fate and Seven Dials Mystery

By the Pricking of my Thumbs by Agatha Christie

Postern of Fate by Agatha Christie

The Seven Dials Mystery by Agatha Christie

February 23, 2022 by vel veeter Leave a Comment

By the Pricking of My Thumbs – One of the last of Agatha Christie’s novels, and specifically the second to last of the five Tommy and Tuppence novels. It had been about 20 years since we got N or M? the WWII spy novel, and about twenty or more years in Tommy and Tuppence’s lives as well. We find them in their sixties, too old to even be looking back to youth, so much as at their middle age, when they were asked to help […]

The Murder on the Links

The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie

February 14, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

February 14, 2022: So this re-read I had to downgrade by a star. I think that just compared to the other novels/short stories in Christie’s series starring Poirot, this one doesn’t really rate as much. Also Hastings worked my nerves (a lot) in this one. I maybe muttered good grief a few times while reading. Hastings and his constant need to fall in love with women with red hair just….he’s a mess. Also, the story (murder) seems very convoluted this time through. People disappearing, and […]

The Regatta Mystery and Other Stories…

The Regatta Mystery and Other Stories... by Agatha Christie

February 7, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

I liked this collection though some of the stories I read in different anthologies or Kindle singles. The only ones totally new to me were the Parker Pyne stories. Per usual, since this is a collection of short stories, I gave my overall rating (5) first and then you can read below on the individual ratings for each story. The Regatta Mystery (4.5 stars)-This story follows a young man being who fears that many believe that he stole a priceless diamond. He goes to Mr. […]

The Thirteen Problems

The Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie

February 2, 2022 by Classic 2 Comments

February 2, 2022: I noticed on Goodreads there’s a link to a supposedly free Kindle version of this book. It does not take you to it but to some random ghost story by someone I have never heard of. Also my own library does not have this one in stock. I bought this paperback version back in 2019 in order to complete my Miss Marple reads. Of course I read this one towards the end of my reading of the series and am glad now […]
