Being your self, and a little Dude-tude

I Absolutely, Positively Love My Spots by Lid'ya C. Rivera

Dude by Aaron Reynolds

June 6, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I have recently seen a book that had a picture of a child with vitiligo, and though it was not the first time I had heard about it (Barbie had a doll, there is the model, etc) but it might have been the first time I had ever seen it in a book that was prominent as it was. Obviously, this book is not for everyone

Rescuing Mrs. Birdley by Aaron Reynolds

January 22, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I either started and never finished Rescuing Mrs. Birdley or I have read it before. However, if it is a reread, I do not remember reading it the first time. This picture book review is as if this is the first and only time, I have read it. Our “animal expert” (solely by her word only) Miranda sees her teacher in the grocery store. Not unusual. I still run into former educators all over town. However, Miranda has the misunderstanding of what a teachers “natural […]
