Hard Luck Hank Rules! -Fun times. I listened to the audible version of this book and the narrator basically did the character using a “Patrick Warburton” voice (The Tick) . Hilarious. Hank is a “Class 4 Mutant”, lives on the space station of “Bellvaille” and is about 300 years old, give or take . His favorable mutation is that you can’t kill him; you can shoot him, stab him, squash him and he heals every time. Hank is big old enforcer thug for the […]
A whimsically surreal comic about music and being a freak at school that will appeal to both adults and children alike.
Joey Moonhead is easily distracted. Prone to daydreaming and not particularly interested in day to day life at school, he is very much an ordinary boy… that is, except for the small fact that he has a floating moon for a head. Throughout the day his disembodied head drifts off, leaving the rest of his body to get on with life as he tries to escape the humdrum world around him. The thing that finally wakes him up is the discovery of his parent’s classic […]
Soccer: the Best Sport EVER!!!
After reading several books related to work, it was nice to get back to something more recreational. As a football fan (and by football I mean international football aka soccer), I always get into a slump after the World Cup, the Euro’s, or any other major international tournament. But after browsing my libraries “New Books” section the title, Eight World Cups by George Vecsey caught my eye and gave me a little emotional boost. Eight World Cups is the memoirs of a sportswriter who was assigned […]
This crazy fool is reviewing a textbook!
Ummmmm…this is a textbook. Wait! Don’t stop reading! Okay, okay, the textbook wasn’t SO AWESOME I had to review it. It was more like, “I’m reading this entire book for a class and damn right I’m gonna get credit on my CBR for it.” It kept me away from other books for EIGHT WEEKS for crying out loud. It’s not like I’m computer illiterate. I grew up in a house that always had at least one computer. I remember using DOS at my high school […]
Boring & Boring
I really enjoyed Setterfield’s debut novel, The Thirteenth Tale. It was a book as much about the love of books as it was the dark tale it was telling, and telling it with an unreliable narrator to boot. It left a lasting impression and when I spotted her follow up, a ghost story no less, on the shelf in Foyles, I had to buy it. I bloody love ghost stories. I love being scared when I’m reading or watching something, it’s the best. I haven’t had […]
A Blank Canvas Has Unlimited Possibilities
I don’t fall in love with fictional characters often, but when I do, they’re usually written by Stephanie Perkins. Okay, that’s kind of a lie. I fall in love with fictional characters constantly, but no one writes modern YA romance like Perkins does. Isla is the last of three interconnected love stories, and if you haven’t read the first two, I highly recommend them. They’re not necessary before starting this, but I think reading them will heighten your enjoyment of Isla, with better understanding of a few […]
