Death Chicken Died On The Way Back to His Home Planet

March 7, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

In the further adventures of Prisco vs. Shitty Fantasy, we encounter death chicken and an entirely pointless diversion where we meet a whole fiefdom of new characters who all fucking die by the end of the story anyway and the stupidest story removal since Poochie’s animation cel got lifted by Roger Meyers.  This was the book that caused a bunch of folks to quit the series, and now I can see why. Following the Space-Time Continuum Always Ends With Your Head Up Your Ass

March 7, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

Fucking time travel.  There’s never a good upshot.  With all the preventative rules for going back in time, it’s like baking a souffle during an earthquake or trying to play hopscotch on a stained-glass window.  This Nightside tale really got no benefit from tripping back in time. Just so you know, Cross: I still haven’t forgiven you for Justin Ripley

March 6, 2015 by Zirza 1 Comment

[Mild spoilers for Luther seasons 1, 2 and 3] Here’s a question for all you Cannonballers: which is easier to write, a good review or a bad review? I tend not to mind either way. Scathing, bitchy reviews are fun, but so is expressing your profound love and enjoyment of a book you have just read. The hardest reviews, I think, are about the books I am unsure about. Unfortunately for me, The Calling falls into this category. The Calling is a prequel to the […]

Mommie DearGODNO

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

Forgiveth the shitty pun title, this one was actually pretty great as it really delved into the history of the Nightside, and solved a lot of the mysteries in the larger story: the identities of both the adversaries after John Taylor and the identity of his mysterious mother. Sing a Sad Song and Make It Way F–king Worse

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

This Nightside tale had a stronger actual detective story but it lacked the madcap and didn’t further John Taylor’s story enough.  I think I still was suffering residual Temple of the Winds rage at this story so I punished it with two starts. CBR# 19 – Sing a Sad Song and Make It Way Fucking Worse

Angels and Demons and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

Angels and demons duke it out over the Nightside in the second book.  We get a glimpse at some of the future supporting cast and eke a little further into the ultimate mystery of the series, who is John Taylor’s MOTHER? CBR 18# – Angels and Demons and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!
