Second Verse, Same As the First

March 13, 2015 by Melina Leave a Comment

Sam Sisavath’s second book of survival picks up where the first book left off…and I predict that this is how all the books are going to go. There’s going to be a metaphorical carrot of safety dangled in front of them, they’ll go for it and that safety will be revoked…or so it seems to go.  Chapter by chapter we get a story told from the perspective of different characters from varying sides (good guys, bad guys, undead peeps). We have Will and Danny, […]

Ripping Stitches Among The Close-Knit

March 11, 2015 by prisco 2 Comments

A powerful stand-alone from the author of one of my favorite horror trilogies.  While it’s a horror story with a lethal sexual parasite, the conventional bits of small-town secrets and domestic strife are the far more intriguing.  The horror story almost gets in the way.

One day, I woke up to an email saying that I was invited to join the street team for Bones & All, and that an ARC and “swag bag” were already on the way. Since books are one of my favorite things ever, I was pretty stoked. I was slightly disappointed that the “swag bag” was just a tote with the book’s cover on it, but it’s cool enough (Though mine is covered in cat hair because my big orange cat decided that the tote […]

Somewhere, someone’s dream was coming true. And someone’s was ending…

March 11, 2015 by Caitycat Leave a Comment

It’s been almost three years since the first book in this series, Kill Me Softly, was published. I had actually forgotten it even existed, but I really liked the first one, so I decided to read onwards. It’s nice that you don’t have to read the first book to understand the second. They take place in the same universe, but they focus on different characters, with the same characters in the background. It’s about a city called Beau Rivage where people are cursed to live […]
