Royally Pucked

I do like the PWHL games, though, in my own defense.

The Pilot & The Puck-Up by Pippa Grant

Royally Pucked by Pippa Grant

Beauty & The Beefcake by Pippa Grant

Charming as Puck by Pippa Grant

I Pucking Love You by Pippa Grant

April 26, 2025 by NTE Leave a Comment

My uncle is watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  They are endless and eternal, seemingly.  But I love my uncle, and he’s letting me stay with him, & there’s only one tv in the whole house. (Actual, unbelievable facts in the year of our lord 2025.) So I am also ‘watching’ the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I have a sports aversion: It comes from years of being tortured by sports equipment of every shape, size, heft, weight, length & form. If there is a ball in a […]

Survival Scout V02 Tsunami by Maxwell Eaton III

Survival Scout V03 Lost at Sea by Maxwell Eaton III

Survival Scout V01 Lost in the Mountains. by Maxwell Eaton III

April 25, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I found two books in the Survival Scout series. The first was Survival Scout V02 Tsunami and Survival Scout V03 Lost at Sea by Maxwell Eaton III. These volumes are about Scout and their friend skunk as  they learn about different types of science. The second book is an informative book about tsunamis, the effects and introduction of facts on what to do. And the other is about how Scout’s brother takes them sailing, insults a porpoise and gets them stuck in the ocean. Then […]

Sisters, differences and love

Little Big Sister by Eoin Colfer

April 11, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I picked up Little Big Sister by Eoin Colfer and illustrated by Celia Ivey because the cover was terribly brightly colored and pushy to the eye.  I read it because I like sibling stories (sister stories in particular) and thought it would be an interesting read on differently abled children/people. And while it was not my favourite read, it was a read that I enjoyed and recommend if you have a family member, friend or a child’s classmate who has dwarfism. Therefore, the rating of […]

Penguins, Pandas and Books

The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Surprise! by Brenda Maier

The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Fun and Games! by Brenda Maier

The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Winterfest by Brenda Maier

April 11, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I might have read the first Adventures of Penguin and Panda, The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Surprise!, (at the time I was starting the review I did not remember) but I do know I read the second book, The Adventures of Penguin and Panda: Fun and Games! by Brenda Maier and illustrated by Fanni Mézes. It is a cute story about friendship and the silly things that happen. It is set up in four stories or chapters and the adventures are happening. And that […]

I think y’all are nuts!

The Last of the Giants: An Ultra Running Graphic Novel by Doug Mayer

April 11, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Why would anyone in their right mind want to do a 200-mile marathon? Something that would take you at least 6 days to finish? A trek that isn’t just in the “sweet, wide open mid-west of the country,” but in the Italian Alps? Well, I did say their right mind. The Last of the Giants: An Ultra Running Graphic Novel by Doug Mayer is based on Mayer’s own experiences as someone who has been on several extreme hikes. As I read via an online reader […]

Countless dreams, countless nightmares, one eerie mystery

Nightmare Hunter #1: A Graphic Novel by Brady Smith

April 9, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I was looking at my online readers and found one for Nightmare Hunter #1: A Graphic Novel written and illustrated by Brady Smith. Due early April 2025, I almost waited to read it as the cover was not completely “grabbing me” and I was not sure it would be something I liked. It felt as if it would be too “out there,” trying too hard to be funny, going with the “gross out” and frankly, somewhat dumb and not funny, so-called humor. Instead we get […]
