All perfectly marriageable after all.

For the last Cannonball, I reviewed books 1 and 3 in the Wallflowers series and enjoyed them; I was asked if I was going to read the Bowman sisters’ books? I am very glad I did, because Lillian’s book, It Happened One Autumn, is possibly my favorite of the four. To recap: the Wallflowers series is about four women who, for various reasons, are having trouble finding suitable husbands in their circles. The eldest, Annabelle, is from a respected family but has no dowry; she finds love in […]

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

January 8, 2015 by katie71483 5 Comments

For me, it all started with a Facebook message from a dear friend whom I’ve never actually met. “A friend of mine bought me some books – said I HAD to read them. I’m trying. I think my friend has problems.” Needless to say, this completely piqued my curiosity. Upon further inquiry on my part, it turned out to be Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series. I’d never heard of it, but evidently they are bestsellers. I have now read the first two, The Gamble and […]

For a while the dogs were the best characters, then things improved

January 5, 2015 by faintingviolet 5 Comments

This holiday season I had flights and time to kill at the airport. I loaded my nook up with easy things to read, since you never know who is going to be sitting near you and whether or not you are going to be able to concentrate on a narrative while amongst so many interesting sorts. While preparing I came across The Other Side of Us which I had downloaded, cheaply since that’s all I do with nook books, at some point in the past […]

A loveable grab-bag of historical danger and drama

January 5, 2015 by alwaysanswerb 5 Comments

Goodreads summary: “Their passionate encounter happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her… and her body still cries out for him in her dreams. Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning […]

I Really Wanted To Like This (Part One)

January 5, 2015 by ModernLove Leave a Comment

I love Richelle Mead’s young adult works. I started reading Vampire Academy at it’s inception, following the story to Bloodlines. I knew she had written novels for adults, too, and had wanted to check them out. So I cracked it open and dove in.

A Holiday Treat to Indulge a Reader…

January 4, 2015 by DragonDreamsJen 2 Comments

DragonDreamsJen’s #CBR7 Review #1   Our First Christmas by Lisa Jackson Every year, during the school break and holidays, I indulge in one good Christmas themed romance novel for sheer entertainment. This year, after finishing my B.Ed degree and the 15 week teaching internship that went along with completing the last stages, I finally had time again to read MORE books for the sheer pleasure of it and decided to sign up for a CannonBall challenge again. Our First Christmas is actually a 435 page anthology […]
