I Wanna Marry Freddie…

April 24, 2015 by kdm 5 Comments

(I know, I know.  I’ve been slacking on my CBR duties, mostly due to a crippling fear of being unable to live up to anything I wrote about gay billionaire jet planes. But hopefully this will get me back in the swing of things!)  Full disclosure: I have been a Go Fug Yourself super-fan for years, so obviously the first novel for adults penned by the authors of the site, Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, was always going to be right up my alley.  Especially when […]

Close but no cigar.

April 24, 2015 by Amanda Leave a Comment

This book made me sad because I wanted to love it and I couldn’t so more than like it.  The characters were solid and the dialogue wasn’t bad but everything else was lacking.  I mean, I enjoyed the plot, but I can’t really give Lev AC Rosen credit for that, since All Men of Genius is a retelling of Twelfth Night.  A Victorian era, steampunk retelling of Twelfth Night with a dash of The Importance of Being Earnest* thrown in, to be exact. Violet and […]

A Fluffy Romance filled with Chocolate

April 23, 2015 by Beth Ellen 9 Comments

So I was need for some romantic fluff. And I’m talking the fluffiest of fluff. I didn’t want to have to think, just escape and enjoy. Therefore this was my first foray into Laura Florand, as I’ve heard so many good things about her from some ladies here. And my goodness was she fluffy, but I have some thoughts and opinions about her as well. The Chocolate Thief is the first in Florand’s Chocolate Series which appears to be about different chocolatiers throughout Paris. This […]

The lost art of love letters

April 23, 2015 by Caitlin_D Leave a Comment

The Last Letter from your Lover is not typically a book I would pick up; at first glance it seemed a bit too “romance” versus just “chick lit” but badkittyuno borrowed it from our mother, who borrowed it from a friend so it was harmless to give it a try. Considering I ignored my husband throughout Jon Stewart and Jimmy Fallon for the last two night I think I liked it. Written in three parts, Last Letter tells the story of Jennifer Stiriling and Anthony […]

A romance with a lot more adventure than romance

April 21, 2015 by Beth Ellen 4 Comments

I finally have read the first book in the Pennyroyal Green series! Oh my goodness does this explain a lot of things! Although now I want to go back and read them in order because I have new questions. I’ve been reading them out of order for months, and different parts of them are slipping in and out of my head. I am short only 2 now, and honestly I hear neither are all that good so I might just wait for a bit. Onto […]

I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll…

April 20, 2015 by katie71483 2 Comments

…okay, not really, but THEME, people, THEME! (And make sure to click on the gifs for maximum viewing pleasure…) [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4cFIzr85cU&w=420&h=315] Katie: Something interesting happened on the way to the bookstore: Kristen Ashley has evidently written a book I don’t hate. After deciding we were finished (at least for a while) with J.R. Ward, I had the bright idea that it might be fun to do a Kristen Ashley.  Since Kindle is ALWAYS pushing her Rock Chick series, we started with book one which is […]
