Cormoran Strikes Again!

March 3, 2015 by badkittyuno 1 Comment

The Silkworm wasn’t quite as stellar as The Cuckoo’s Calling, but still an interesting and well-written detective story. I wasn’t quite as wrapped up in this case as I was in Lula Landry’s (probably because the victim wasn’t so likable), and I thought the ending was a bit outrageous, but the Robin & Strike relationship progressed wonderfully and it had a great cast of characters. “Writers are a savage breed, Mr. Strike. If you want life-long friendship and selfless camaraderie, join the army and learn to kill. […]

Ten Minutes Only is Required

March 3, 2015 by DataAngel 1 Comment

Vish Puri is India’s Most Private Investigator. He handles cases as simple as cheating spouses and background checks on potential husbands to murder, kidnapping, and the abduction of a famous moustache. Yes, really. One of Puri’s clients in this book is the man with the longest moustache. Someone breaks into his house and shaves off half of it. The man with the second longest moustache is accused, but it’s not so simple — he’s kidnapped and loses his moustache, too. Fortunately Vish Puri is on […]

I’ve got a bad feeling about this…….

March 2, 2015 by janniethestrange Leave a Comment

I’m determined to do this, get all the way through the Aimee Leduc Investigation books in a row. This is book 1o, and it starts out with Aimee romancing a new man, while Rene toils away at the office. She gets a call from him informing her that 100,000 francs have been wired into their account and he can’t trace where it’s coming from. A short time later, a woman enters the offices of Leduc Detective, wearing a motorcycle helmet just like Aimee’s and shoots […]

Less tasty than normal

March 1, 2015 by llp 2 Comments

This series is another one of Image Comics’ great titles, along with some of my other favourites such as Saga (READ IT), Rat Queens and East of West. This one is quite a bit further along than the others, as this is the fourth large hard cover trade, released in mid-2014. This is one of the few graphic novel series that my husband is willing to read – he just isn’t a fiction reader and isn’t generally enchanted by the medium, but really likes this […]

Criss Cross is gonna make you jump jump

March 1, 2015 by katie71483 3 Comments

Let it be known: *Name Redacted*, henceforth known as Patty, has regained the right to have her name used publicly in regards to books she recommends. Patty was on her way when she introduced me to Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series, but with Jordan Castillo Price’s Psycop series she has completely redeemed herself after the Kristen Ashley fiasco. Criss Cross is the second entry in the Psycop series, and it builds very nicely on the first. I have seen these books described as m/m romance, mystery, urban horror/fantasy, crime and […]

This is the story of Touma Kamijou who believes that he the worst luck possible.
