Love Her or Lose Her by Tessa Bailey

September 11, 2023 by Sophia Leave a Comment

I’m pretty sure I picked up Love Her or Lose Her (2020) by Tessa Bailey because I needed another audiobook for my work commute. I’ve always thought romances were easy to follow, even with driving distractions. And Love Her or Lose Her looked interesting. I found out after I finished, that this is Book 2 of 3 of the “hot and hammered” series. I’m not sure I was looking for “hot and hammered,” but it does explain all of the sex. Sometimes, this book teetered on the edge […]

Your Own Little Bit of Batshit.

The Theory of Everything Else: A Voyage Into the World of the Weird by  Dan Schreiber

September 4, 2023 by LittlePlat Leave a Comment

Once upon a time, many, many years in the past, muddling around in mild conspiracies theories were sort of rather fun? From cryptids like Bigfoot, oddball happenings with aliens and Timecube, there was a strange attraction to other people’s particular niche brands of madness.  As a kid, or even a young teen, I found this kind of thing pretty harmless. But sadly, in more recent years conspiracies have gotten far less fun; as conspiracy went mainstream it changed from cute coincidences and goofy silliness to […]

Funny and poignant just like her podcasts

Raw Dog by Jamie Loftus

September 3, 2023 by cosbrarian 1 Comment

I’m a big fan of Jamie Loftus’s work in the podcast sphere, so I’ve had a hold on the audio of RAW DOG since it came out. Finally it was my turn! Tragically, I had a weird download and some of the book was clipped out in the beginning. But I was too impatient to re-download and felt guilty hanging onto such a popular book for a long time. So I didn’t reread – it’s possible I missed some stuff. The book starts out with […]

CBR 15 Bingo – Adulthood: This YA book is a coming-of-age story for Roxie and Skylar, who must grapple with the difficult themes of guilt and closure before they can move past a massive tragedy. A year after Roxie’s sister’s boyfriend is found brutally murdered on the outskirts of town, an unexpected discovery sends Skylar on a frenetic search for the killer, heedless of who might get hurt in the process. Kind of a badass

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center

September 2, 2023 by Sophia Leave a Comment

I’ve been trying to find audiobooks for my commute to and from work. It’s not that long of a trip, but I figure I’m better off using the time for good instead of wasting it. The latest audiobook I discovered available at my library was The Bodyguard (2022) by Katherine Center. I’m usually a fan of bodyguard romances because I’m a sucker for a strong, protective guy. However, this book gives us a female bodyguard, and she’s safeguarding a man. Jack Stapleton is a famous actor, and […]

Watch This Space #3: Electric Space Boogaloo

The Last Emperox by John Scalzi

August 31, 2023 by Caesar's Wife Leave a Comment

The Last Emperox completes The Interdependency trilogy – a sprawling space opera that examines the political and scientific ramifications when the ‘flow stream’ that connects the various hubs of humanity across the universe start to fail. Book 1 introduced us to the fledgling Emperox Grayland II of the noble Wu family, who has the misfortune of taking the title over right as The Interdependency begins to unravel. We also met: the flow scientist, Marce, who comes bearing the bad news about the collapsing flow stream; […]
