In preparation for The Broken Eye (the third book in the Lightbringer series) I wanted to re-read The Black Prism and The Blinding Knife.  This series takes place in a world where some people (‘drafters’) have the ability to make colors solid.  In addition to the unique magic system, there is also a lot of political strategy and surprise twists.  Needless to say I love this series (as I rarely read books twice), I give this book 4 stars. I’m a big fan of Rachel Aaron’s Eli Monpress series.  I enjoyed her Paradox series, and so far (for me) this Heartstricker series falls in the middle.  I think this series is YA, at least the main character is a kid (only 20 something in dragon years), but it made no difference.  It was different, it was fun and I enjoyed seeing Julius (the main character) come into his own.  The best part is that Rachel Aaron writes really fast and the next book in the series is coming out later this […]
