Oh no….

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

September 14, 2022 by Travis_J_Smith Leave a Comment

Oh no. Oh nooo. It’s a series. Those were my exact words upon doing a cursory Google search prior to starting this review. In prepping to tear into The Rosie Project, I learned that there are two follow-ups that I don’t think my morbid curiosity will let me not read. To answer my previous question of if I’m a masochist: yes. Why else would I suffer through multiple seasons of dreadful Dexter and Archer simply because I’d already devoted so many years of my time to the shows? Why […]

It’s become a cliche at this point, but don’t hold that against it

Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss

September 7, 2022 by Travis_J_Smith Leave a Comment

Somehow, I don’t know how, despite this book being practically the book to give as a gift to people when they graduate from anywhere, and loving Dr. Seuss since childhood, I’ve gone my entire life without having actually read Oh, The Places You’ll Go. I think I partly avoided it purposefully, feeling it was too much of a cliche to read. Or something along those lines. Like, if I avoided it this far, maybe it wasn’t meant to be read by me. I don’t know why I let […]

Golden is right

Toy Story 2 by Christopher Nicholas

Toy Story 3 by Annie Auerbach

September 7, 2022 by Travis_J_Smith Leave a Comment

When I stumbled across the Toy Story 2 Little Golden Book at the local Giant, I couldn’t not get it. The art style was too freaking precious. I remember thinking it was just a shame I couldn’t find any of the other Toy Story books. It wasn’t much later before I found the Toy Story 3 one at another store. The stupid stick-on clip they use to hang them with refused to come off of that one cleanly, tearing the paper off the back, much to my dismay, but […]

This book is MY little pumpkin pie

You're My Little Pumpkin Pie by Nicola Edwards

September 7, 2022 by Travis_J_Smith Leave a Comment

It’s not even fall yet, you might be thinking to yourself. Why are we already taking the plunge into cute and cozy autumnal books? Because I’m trying to mentally will it to be fall already. I’m so 100% done with the 80+ degree temperatures that melt my phone mount off my dash in the car (twice now). Give me sweater weather already. Inject pumpkin spice everything into my veins. I’ve already stocked up on more pumpkin spice food stuffs than is probably healthy. Pumpkin pie […]

Now I remember why I usually hold off on consuming media until it’s over and done with: I’m too gosh darn impatient. Per Shonen Jump, Fujimoto hasn’t put out enough chapters for a volume 12 yet, so no beginning to the second “act” of Chainsaw Man, and it’s not until next month that the anime begins. Thankfully, I’ve discovered that Fujimoto has another series I can dive into here soon once I get the urge. Unfortunately, that’ll be a little while, because I’m still trying […]

Here goes with my super-belated reviews of Chainsaw Man. I’ve never gotten in on the ground floor with a manga before. Actually, I’ve only ever read I think one other manga, Death Note, and that was after having watched the television series first. I’d avoided manga and anime (unless you count the likes of Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon when I was a child) for much of high school due to knowing too well the type who traded in them from my time taking […]
