I’m wrapping up the CBR15 Passport Challenge with three books from my bookshelf. I’ve had some of these for YEARS, so it was past time. I’ve enjoyed a few of Marjorie Liu’s short stories in paranormal romance anthologies like My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding. When I learned she penned a graphic novel featuring magic and monsters, I was all in! I won an Amazon gift card from Mocha Girls Read and picked this up. And then it sat on my endless TBR pile until I […]

Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort

A trio of romances featuring a rockstar, small town angst, and magical cooking

Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort

Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn

Basil and Oregano by Melissa Capriglione

December 31, 2023 by teresaelectro 4 Comments

CBR15 Passport Challenge: New to you Authors – Jen Comfort, Kate Clayborn, and Melissa Capriglione Midnight Duet by Jen Comfort is a gender-flipped remix of Phantom of the Opera. Erika Greene seemingly had it all when taking on a lead Broadway role. She was a bit of a minx and slept with someone’s boyfriend, which led to a production light falling on her. She retreats to her family’s dilapidated opera house in Paris, Nevada, and vows to become a better person. She had a decent plastic surgeon […]

Mixing it up with gentrification, magic, and Mothman

When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

I'm in Love with Mothman by Paige Lavoie

December 30, 2023 by teresaelectro 1 Comment

CBR15 Passport Challenge: Different genres – suspense thriller, urban fantasy, and monster romance When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole has been in my audible library for way too long. When it was picked for my Lawless book club, it was a sign. I do like to read mystery and thrillers to mix it up between the glut of romances I read. Dubbed by the author as a gentrification thriller, Sydney Green is having a bad time. After a disastrous divorce, she’s moved back in […]

The Lover by Silvia Moreno Garcia

The Lover from the Forest

The Lover by Silvia Moreno Garcia

December 30, 2023 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I have been interested in reading Silvia Moreno Garcia for a few years. Her Amazon Original was an opportunity to dip my toes into her library. I can mark another passport stamp as she is from Mexico, and the story is set in a mysterious village. CBR15 Passport Challenge: Books from different countries (book 3 of 3) SPOILERS AHEAD! We meet Judith in “The Lover”. She lives in a small village and makes a wish to bring her lover to her. Soon, a hunter named Nathaniel […]

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh

A subversion of the fated mates trope in Tangle of Need

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh

December 30, 2023 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I’m slowly making my way through the first set of Psy Changeling novels by Nalini Singh. As Singh is from New Zealand and Tangle of Need has the couple trotting the globe, this counts towards the passport challenge. CBR15 Passport Challenge: Books from different countries (book 2 of 3) In the eleventh book, Singh subverts the idea of fated mates with Lieutenant wolf shifter Riaz and wolf soldier Adria. Riaz’s wolf recognized a married woman as his mate. He struggles with the fact they can never […]

In the Woods by Tana French

December 30, 2023 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I may have read fewer books this year but made an effort to start reading the ones I own. I owe it to my bookshelves to continue the trend in 2024. Tana French’s In the Woods has been on my shelf for way too long. It lived up to all the expectations from past CBR reviews. And I got to “travel” to Dublin for the CBR15 passport challenge. CBR15 Passport Challenge: Books from different countries (book 1 of 3) The first Dublin Murder Squad novel […]
