A delightful present under the tree, just for me

December 17, 2015 by scootsa1000 1 Comment

Just look at what I got in the mail from the lovely faintingviolet! Bunnybean and Joemyjoe forbid me to open this until Christmas Eve, but I think I’ll sneak a chocolate before then. Thank you, and happy holidays!!

As a fairly dedicated Cannonballer, I am embarrassed that it took me so long to read Uprooted. But I didn’t. I waited around for my library to finally get it, and put my name on the list. And I forgot about it. And then it was my turn. And […]

I can’t really say anything except to go and read these books. You won’t be sorry.

Nobody out there can touch Cannonball favorite Rainbow Rowell and Andrew “my Cannonball boyfriend” Smith right now, as far as I’m concerned. Many people have touted Carry On before me. And I”ll gladly jump on that bandwagon, waving […]

No. Just no.

You know how sometimes modern adaptations of our favorite classic novels turn out great, and quickly go up on the shelf alongside the original? Bridget Jones. Clueless. For Darkness Shows the Stars. And then there are some that aren’t great, but are ok, and that’s good enough, because it makes us think about how great the original was. Death Comes to Pemberley. Emma: A Modern Retelling. Of course, there are lots that are just lousy. But for some reason, that doesn’t stop me from reading […]
