This book was a very quick read. I don’t know how many pages it is actually, because I read it on my kindle, but it only took about six hours to finish. It’s hard for me to review, because I don’t want to give anything away, but here goes. The beginning of the story takes place in the 25th century, and the characters are members of the Universal Union, and crew on the starship Intrepid. If it sounds a lot like Star Trek, it’s supposed […]
Uninspired, unlikable, unbelievable.
I don’t think I have the appropriate words to properly convey how disappointed and infuriated I was with this book. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that I only got half way through it before I had to stop reading it else I might destroy my Kindle in anger. That was three months ago, and I finally calmed down enough to skim the last bit so I could write a review. My apologies in advance to fans of Ms. Milan, but […]
Alas, disappointed again.
This review contains mild spoilers, but anyone who has ever read romance novels (or simply has a brain) would be able to see them coming from a mile away. Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite authors, ever, full stop. Devil in Winter is probably in my top ten favorite books, and the hero, Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent, is one of the most swoon-worthy heroes in literature. I bring this up only because I know that Ms. Kleypas has the capacity to write interesting, complicated […]
Awesome!
I don’t normally read children’s books, but I saw a review for this one here, thought the cover art looked adorable, and so decided to purchase it for my young nephew. Naturally I had to read it before I gifted it. Being a children’s book, it was appropriately short, so this review will be too. This book is adorable. The artwork is very cute. The story has a wonderful message, too: be who you are, because who you are is pretty neat. I don’t want […]
Virgin, virgin, virgin, virgin!
This was my first book by Courtney Milan, and while I didn’t love it, I’ll definitely give her another shot. I know she is a popular author, and I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for her books, so I finally read one. I do think many people will love this book, but it was just ok for me. The hero is Sir Mark Turner, the brother of a duke and the author of A Practical Guide to Male Chastity, which has made him quite a […]
95% of this book is available for free on the internets, the other 5% is just made up.
If you like the show Archer, you might like this book. If you don’t like Archer, then you will probably hate it. I don’t quite know how to describe this book. It’s ostensibly written by Sterling Archer, self-proclaimed world’s greatest secret agent, and star of said animated TV show. It definitely has the same feel of the show, in that it does sound like Sterling Archer, but in my opinion it loses some of its charm in print form. For me, the cast of characters […]
