The World Need Not End Because You’re A Shitty Boyfriend

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

This was the one that finally broke me.  I’m still slogging through.  But I actually screamed out loud and stopped reading for a while after the horseshit teen angsty romance in this hunk of crap.  It’s cool, the world’s gonna end, but I’m gonna be mad at you because you’re a GIRL.  And you’re supposed to be MY GIRL.  Richard, you are a dick. And Now For Something Completely Sinister

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

The first of the Nightside series books.  Green’s bombastic operatic splatterfest is in fullswing, only this time in a noir-y underbelly of London where you can find everything you want.  You just need John Taylor and his detective supernatural powers to get it. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

March 5, 2015 by prisco 1 Comment

Not just the same horrors of the Church of $cientology with its loony leadership, but this book actually gets into some of the crowning celebrities. And while Tom Cruise doesn’t come off very well, I actually felt a little sad for Travolta.  I want Ian McKellan to heal him and make him gay. CBR #15 – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

A Million Bottles of Beer on the Wall

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

The same old song and dance, like Jimmy Buffett doing political fight songs from a boat shaped like a fucking coconut.  There’s comfort in repetition — and since it takes place in Florida and stars a serial killer thrilling with Florida factoids, it’s still entertaining as all hell. Imitators Idolize, I Intimidate

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

A coming of age story that hits you in the face like Daniel Radcliffe rapping Blackalicious.  Beatty slings between urban and urbane so fast you get whiplash.  Don Quixote tilting ghetto windmills, it’ll mess with you in the best possible way. CBR #13 – Imitators Idolize, I Intimidate

Encyclopedia Brown Your Pants

March 5, 2015 by prisco Leave a Comment

The first full Atlanta Burns book.  While it feels like Wendig coming into his own and still finding his voice and mannerisms, it’s a hell of a book.  Also, if you care even a little bit about dogs it will fuck up your soul, salt the wound, and then sew it full of bees.  This one punches me in the feels.
