Fascinating YA sci-fi dystopia, needs a little work on the characters.
Various internet peoples have been telling me to read Neal Shusterman for years now, and with Scythe he finally published a book whose premise I couldn’t resist, so here we are. If the rest of his books are as well thought out as this one was, they’re definitely getting moved up my TBR. I started this book at lunch yesterday, got sixty pages in, and then read the rest of it in a frenzy as soon as I got home from work. I even forgot to eat dinner. Guys, I NEVER forget to eat dinner. Didn’t hate this one, so at least there’s that.
So I had this huge brilliant review* for this book, which I stupidly wrote in the review space over on Goodreads, and upon being two sentences away from finishing it, my browser decided to to go non-responsive, crashed and deleted the whole thing. If you love Our Lady of Skepticism, don’t read this.
I mean, I hate to be that person, but Hashtag Not My Scully (#NotMyScully). I wasn’t precisely looking forward to this book, despite being the owner of a beyond huge X-Files obsession that permeated my adolescence, but it seemed like a fun idea, if executed properly.
