LALKJSLKJHODIJHOIELSLIDFGOWLS. Stupid book and it’s stupid ending and stupid authors for not finishing the series yet. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH Which is not actually a review, I acknowledge. If you’ll allow me a moment to compose myself, let me see if I can put something coherent together. So yea, this book… GUYS I NEEED THE NEXT ONE NOW. Ahem, I mean it doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger, but it does a little bit and that is enough to make me want to scream. It’s close enough to a cliffhanger […]
Utterly Delightful Read
Thank you fellow Cannonballers, without your many, many reviews and recommendations of this book I would never have picked it up. And it is completely and utterly delightful. Lainie Graham is a theater star in London, as is Richard Troy. Lainie however is beloved of the public, where Richard’s bad boy antics have earned him a heap of scorn. In order to rehabilitate his image Richard’s publicist, and the publicist of the play these two actors are currently co-staring in, come up with a terrible horrible plan. […]
A Book is a Door and the Door leads Home
Portal fantasies are pretty common in middle grade and YA literature, but it isn’t often asked what happens to the children who come back. Seanan McGuire attempts to answer that with her latest novel but I’m not sure the book, and its answers, works for me completely. Eleanor West runs a school for children who have returned from their otherlands/Fairylands. These are children who no longer feel at home in the mundane world and long, more then anything, to return to the world that kicked […]
Nostalgia is a Powerful Thing
Before Twilight, there was another overdramatic tale of love between a teenage girl and a vampire. I speak, of course, of The Vampire Diaries. And lo, the drama and angst is strong with this one. Lets get this out of the way first, this is not a good book however it is a super fun walk down memory lane for me, and so I’m a bit biased. It is extremely enjoyable, and much like the Sweet Valley High books, so long as you don’t expect anything from it the book […]
Wrestling with Religion and the nature of God
I really don’t know where to begin with this novella. It’s a very thought provoking read but I’m just not sure I enjoyed it. I will say, I do think it’s probably one of John Scalzi’s better works, but I also don’t think that fans of his novels would enjoy it. I also can’t decide between three or four stars. I think writing wise, it probably deserves 4-5 stars, as I said I think it’s probably the best book Scalzi has written. However on a […]
The book did what I wanted it to do, so we’ll call it a win.
Every once in a while I read a book simply because I want something uncomplicated, porny, and with a happy ending (no, a HEA not THAT kind of happy ending-though I suppose that’s implied in the ‘porny’). This was that book. The writing is nothing particularly special and the characters are ‘romance novel’ realistic, but the sex is hot and we get a HEA and so it’s a win. Alwaysanswerb reviewed this whole series a few months ago, and this book in particular was the […]
