Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

May 12, 2019 by Manimama 1 Comment

I picked up one of Neil Gaiman’s books, Norse Mythology,  at the airport over the summer. I loved it. There have been so many reviews that I think I can pass on the plot summary and skip to my thoughts. I have to say, this book was by turns wonderful and just head-scratching. I love the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale- a sort of supernatural […]

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain

April 21, 2019 by Manimama Leave a Comment

I don’t know how I missed this book. It came out in 2012 and it took me 7 years to pay attention to it. It was made in to a poorly-received film that I had no interest in watching. I still don’t know if I will watch the film, but I am so glad I found this book. Billy Lynn is 19 years old and enlisted in the Army as a punishment for destruction of property. Billy and the other members of the ‘Bravo Squad’ […]

She has recently embarked on a book tour to promote her collection of war-time dispatches. She is contacted by a man named Dawsey, who lives on the isle of Guernsey- he is in possession of a […]
