I’m not sure how I stumbled across We Are Never Meeting in Real Life. I hadn’t heard of Samantha Irby or her blog, “Bitches Gotta Eat”, before picking up the book, but the title and adorably annoyed kitten on the cover called to my inner crank. A Well Told Familiar Plot

I went into this almost completely blind, and it was all the better for it. The comparisons to other, more famous, entries in the women’s suspense genre that has been all the rage over the last couple of years (Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Big Little Lies, etc.) were reason enough for me to pick it up. When my Buffy book club picked this book I couldn’t wait to tear in, but I was disappointed to find that feeling wore off pretty quickly.
