Ok so this is allegedly the penultimate book in the Insanity series. I just downloaded book seven, because book six leaves you hanging a little bit. According to the author, it’s the only book without a prologue (or two). The premise of this book is basically a worldwide chess game, and eventually a bunch of other chess games and chess related shenanigans. The Chessmaster challenges the leaders of the world to chess matches. It’s allegedly for charity or something? He tricks them though, because he […]
And call Alice, when she was just small…when the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go
I feel like I start every Insanity book with “I have no idea what’s happening”, or something along those lines. It’s just true for every one of them. Alice travels backwards and forwards in time. She’s trying to prevent the main thing that started all of this madness – the bus accident. The beginning of book 1 talks about Alice going to the Radcliffe Asylum because she crashed a bus and killed all of her classmates (including her boyfriend). Alice travels forward in time to […]
Book 2 in Newsflesh
Ok so this is book 2 for the Newsflesh trilogy. I loooved book 1. Book 2 was kind of a chore. I listened to it on my library’s app. Sometimes I feel like an audiobook swims or sinks based on the voice talent. I know that’s not a revolutionary opinion, but hear me out. I know The Girl with All the Gifts was a freaking awesome book. Listening to Finty Williams read it made it nearly magical. I loved it so hard. I don’t think […]
OK, my second Margaret Atwood book was awesome!
My first exposure to Margaret Atwood was book one in the MaddAddam Trilogy – Oryx and Crake. It was not a rousing success in my eyes. I didn’t quite get it. Aaaanyway, my library’s app had this in ebook form, so it was my second Margaret Atwood book. I loved it. It was my “reading before bed” book, which is hard when it’s a book that I really enjoy. I find myself dozing when I really want to keep reading. So this is another dystopian […]
Back to ZOMBIES! Yay!!
I loved this book. I really did. I just spent the last two and a half hours finishing it, because I couldn’t stop. I loved the characters. I loved the point of view. I loved the idea of the virus and where it came from. Ok, enough praise. If you’ve ever read Mira Grant and liked her, I suspect this book is for you. I started out last year with her Parasitology trilogy. I liked them a lot, and I kept hearing about the Newsflesh […]
I have no idea what’s happening, but I keep reading!
Ok so I’m not sure where to start with this. I think I borrowed the ebook from my library because I heard about how great The Handmaid’s Tale was. My library didn’t have that book, so I went with another interesting sounding Margaret Atwood book. It’s the first book in a trilogy. The blurb for this book sounded like my kind of story. Amazon called it “an unforgettable love story and a compelling vision of the future”, which seems like a cool premise. Plus – […]
