I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

The Variants are back, and so is Apollo!

June 22, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is book six in the Extinction Cycle books.  I read book five a few months ago, and then needed a little break from the bleak world of the Variants and the Juveniles and all the fighting.  When I picked this book up (Kindle version natch), it took me a little while to get into it, for those very same reasons.  Once I got going though, I couldn’t stop.  I love the characters in this world.  Also, Apollo is back.  Once I saw he’d be […]

Some Will Not Sleep – like me!

June 20, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

From the author, on the title: The title of the collection was inspired by the First Epistle of Corinthians (15:5), written by Paul the Apostle: “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed”. As with much of the bible, there are multiple interpretations of the meaning in this statement. But there are several interpretations of the title of this book too. Some within it do not sleep, some who read it may not sleep, and he who wrote it often doesn’t sleep. […]

That Night the bad thing happened

June 12, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So my sister recommended this book to me.  Most of my friends and family know that I like to read, so I get many recommendations.  I just have a hard time remembering who recommended what book to me since I’m usually reading four books at a time.  Anyway, I remember my sister told me to read this one because she saw it on my counter and said “oh, you’re reading that book I recommended to you”.  Stunning intellect I’ve got 🙂 Anyway, for some reason […]

A great (imo) twist that I did not see coming

June 12, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ok guys.  I consider myself to be pretty intelligent.  Like I totally know words, and even how to use them!  I can name all of the James Bond movies, and who played Bond in each of them.  Additionally, I’m a great Googler.  Now that I’ve laid out my case (ooh it’s a legal book – unintentional pun!) for my unparalleled wit, I want to say that I did not see the twist in this story coming.  And it wasn’t one of those out of left […]

The Final MaddAddam

June 5, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So this is the final book in the MaddAddam trilogy.  I was so-so on book 1, and I loved book 2.  I felt like the second book tied together all of the crap you had to sit through in the first book.  Then the third book ties it together even more, and even wraps everything up. Here are a few things I learned along the way, and stuff I took note of.  I don’t think that’s a great sentence, but it’s Monday, so CUT ME […]

This one feels like a cheat

May 30, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

OK so I was just about to start “Only the Truth” (https://www.amazon.com/Only-Truth-Adam-Croft-ebook/dp/B01HEKF8S2/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8) by Adam Croft, when I saw this Kindle Short, or novella, or whatever you want to call it.  It was 38 pages, so it feels like a cheat.  I read a (greater than) one thousand page book last year, and the year before so I guess I’ll allow it.  Anyway, I wanted to read it to get a feel for the writing style of Adam Croft.  I think I liked it? So the […]
