I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

Milly knows your secrets, but she has some of her own

(The Housemaid #1) The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

(The Housemaid #2) The Housemaid’s Secret by Freida McFadden

I read both of these books as actual real physical books, which for me is a big deal. I was over my aunt’s house and she was like “you have to read this book” about the first one, but I only had the weekend to read it, because she borrowed it from the woman she babysits for (and she’s crazy – my aunt). So I hit my timeline because I had a timeline, but also because the book was good! Then, mom of the kids […]

I read these books over the course of the year. I did read them in order, but not all consecutively. I just thought it would be appropriate to review them all together since it’s a new series for me, and a few of them have characters and storylines that connect to each other. Books 5 through 7 are actually my most recently read books (32 – 34 for the year), but they all fit in this post. Like I said in my title, I’m still […]

Another great one from the wacky mind of T. Kingfisher

4. (The Saint of Steel #4) Paladin’s Faith by T. Kingfisher

April 5, 2024 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

It turns out that I love T. Kingfisher. Anyone who’s read a post from me before probably knows that though. I think I got into Kingfisher with one of her weird books a few years ago. It was about a hole in the wall of an oddity museum that led to alternate worlds. I just remember my awe at this author who could scare me, freak me out, and make me laugh crazily all in the same book. I just keep reading her books now […]

What is the measure of your life?

The Measure by Nikki Erlick

April 5, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So I think I was late to the game on this one. Apparently it was a tiktok sensation or something. I’m not on tiktok, so I had no idea. I went to read some reviews after I finished it and was surprised to see that it had been out for a while and had lots of reviews. My BFF Connie recommended it to my sister and I at the end of last year. I love Connie so much, but she tends to suggest “sad person […]

Starting off my CBR (in April!) with a trio of crappily edited books

Stolen in a Small Town by Marie Wilkens

The Willow Springs Kidnappings by Roger Hayden

The Cabin by Robert J. Walker

April 5, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Welcome to my first post for CBR 16. I know it’s April. I’ve been a CBR posting slacker. I’ve been reading like a maniac though! I’ve read 33 books this year, so I figured it was about time I started posting about them!! Let’s get started… I think I started this trio of books at the end of 2023, but didn’t actually finish the first one until January of 2024, so it counts! They came as one book on my Kindle, but they were 3 […]

Spooky season cannonball!

The Pram by Joe Hill

October 30, 2023 by kfishgirl 6 Comments

What a fitting book to complete my Cannonball on for this spooky season! The Pram is a short story by one of Stephen King’s sons. I think I’ve read other Joe Hill stories and not really loved them, but I liked this one a lot. We start out with Willy and Marianne moving to a farmhouse in Maine after they suffered a miscarriage. Marianne was so depressed and lifeless that Willy wanted to get her out into the fresh air and away from their old […]
