I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

Player One is Ready!

I absolutely loved this book.  I know an audiobook is good when it makes me sit in my car outside my garage (so I don’t die from asphyxiation) and continue listening after I get home.  This book is read by Wil Wheaton, who just has a great voice with fun inflections, and tone changes, and all that is good in the world. This book was 15 hours long, so there’s a lot to cover.  I really don’t want to give anything away, so I’m going […]

I’m finally reading The Handmaid’s Tale

July 17, 2017 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

I liked all of these covers, so I added them all. For some reason, I had no idea that this book was published in 1986.  It feels so so current.  I wanted to read it before watching any of the Hulu series, which looks great.  This will officially be my fifth Margaret Atwood book.  I think I like her 🙂 This book just tosses you right into the everday slog of being a Handmaiden.  You wake up in a blank, meaningless room, put on your […]

This lady talks about chemtrails, I have a hard time believing anything she says…

I have hypothyroidism.  I had half of my thyroid removed in 2008, and I’ve been on medicine ever since.  It turned out that I had a goiter, a benign tumor, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.  Basically my immune system is trying to kill what’s left of my thyroid.  Fun times!!  My thyroid numbers have been considered normal for a while, but I still feel like hot garbage (literally hot, I’m generally the temperature of a menopausal woman, but I’m in my 30’s!) frequently.  I thought I’d give […]

If Only the Truth were that this was a good book!

July 5, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So… I read a short story by Adam Croft, and reviewed it here earlier in June.  I read the short first to see if I liked the author’s writing.  I guess at the time I thought it was ok, because I went on to read this book.  I went back and read my review after finishing Only the Truth, and saw that I really didn’t like the short!  At first I wasn’t really sure why I went ahead and read the book.  Then I read […]

Who is the kind worth killing?

July 3, 2017 by kfishgirl 2 Comments

I listened to this as an audiobook, and once again the voice talent elevated the story. There were actually four separate actors that read this story. People kept dying, so two narrators had to be replaced 😁. The story starts out with two people meeting at an airport bar in London. Their flight back to Boston was postponed, so they started drinking and talking. Ted, our main character is some sort of business guy that just found out his wife is cheating on him with […]

[Now with more dogs!] An Extinction Cycle short to hold us (me) over until Book 7 is released!

June 23, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is a short story to be read after Book six.  Since I just finished book six, Amazon recommended this to me.  I was deep in Extinction town at this point, so I downloaded it!  It’s only five chapters and about eighty pages long, so it was a quick read. Don’t worry, it includes my favorite character (Apollo).  Although he doesn’t get much to do, he does comfort Fitz, and the other soldiers.  He comforted some kids that they rescued in Book  six too.  Basically […]
