I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

If you can handle the multiple animals in peril, it’s a good read

October 17, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ok I have to get this out of the way first.  Multiple animals are in peril in this book.  Some don’t make it.  I had a little bit of a hard time with some of it.  I’ll lay out the basics, and you can decide if you can handle it.  A dog dies, but we didn’t meet her first, and there are literally no details about it.  This one normally would’ve been rough for me, but because there aren’t any details, and it’s only brought […]

I wanted to be more into it

October 17, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So this is book 5 in the Omega Days series.  I read the first four and loved them.  I think maybe if I had read this right after I finished book 4, I would’ve been more into it.  I kinda forgot about where everyone was in the world, and I kinda lost my connection to the characters.  I didn’t have the opportunity to read it right after I finished book 4 though, because it wasn’t out yet! Anyway… I feel like every single one of […]

Let’s figure out why everyone keeps drowning themselves

October 6, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I have to admit that I really love my title.  It’s so conversational, and at the same time kinda shocking.  Anyway, now that I’ve complimented myself, on to the book.  I think it might be more like 3.5 stars, but that’s not an option unfortunately. This book took me a while to read.  Sometimes books take longer for me to read than others through no fault of their own, but due to my reading circumstances.  A Kindle book is always going to go faster than […]

Another Atwood!

October 3, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I think one of the Fug Girls (gofugyourself.com) recommended this book in a discussion of some sort.  As a seasoned Atwood reader, I jumped on it.  I got the audiobook version of this, which I 100000% recommend you get if you’re going to read this book.  It’s a story, but also a retelling of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.  The audiobook actually performs the play.  I can’t imagine how much less enjoyable it’d be if I had to perform everything in my head.  It would probably still […]

Meerkats can teach us about corporate life, or something?

September 28, 2017 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

Ok so I had to read this book for work.  I’m in this group at my job called the guiding coalition.  It’s all about making small changes to make bigger changes, and to get people involved and “energized”.  I don’t think I’ve drunken the Kool Aid yet.  We had to read this book to get us ready for “the big opportunity”.  We’re split into smaller groups and working on projects to improve our company.  I’m all for that, but it’s just a little culty for […]

A quaint little murder mystery, but did anyone actually get murdered?

September 28, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ok so this was another one of my random pickups at the library.  It had death in the title, so I figured I’d like it.  I think I did?  It was an audiobook, so the fact that it felt like I was being read to by a little old lady really soothed me.  No offense to Cynthia Darlow, I have no idea how old she is, but she sounded to me like a little old lady.  I mean that in the best way possible.  This […]
