I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

John Rain is a new character for me… and I like him

August 22, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Listicle… cbr10bingo So I cheated a little with this one.  I read it first, and then I found a list it was on 🙂  However, the list toooootally applies to me!  It’s called “What the over 35’s are reading”, and here it is: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/83374.2015_What_the_Over_35_s_Are_Reading I’m very much an over 35 (by 2 whole years!), so this list appeals to me.  I’m going to go back to it and see if there are other books on it I’d like! Enough about my old age, back to […]

Joe Cantrell finishes his run

August 22, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is the end… cbr10bingo I used the first book in this series as my “and so it begins”, and now I’m using this third and final book as my “this is the end” for CBR10bingo!  Of course I read this series in the wrong order (two, one, three), but that’s just the usual for me! So we get back to Joe Cantrell in this book, and he’s got another new job.  He’s sheriff of a small town in Texas, and he’s got a new […]

Two Joe Cantrell books that maybe blended together in my head?

August 10, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

And so it Begins… cbr10bingo So although I’m using this book as my “And so it begins” spot on cbr10 bingo, because it’s the first book in a series, I of course didn’t read it first.  I read the second book in the series (reviewed below) first.  I don’t what is wrong with me, but it happens like allll the time!  Anyway, I’m going to review mostly the characters in these two books because they’re jumbling together in my brain (even though I just finished […]

I had to stop reading this at night

July 27, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is a very short story, and it almost feels like a cheat to have it as one of my CBR books for the year, but here we are.  After reading Obscura (which was one of my recent reviews), I wanted more Joe Hart.  So I downloaded a few short stories that were available on Kindle Unlimited.  I started to read this story the other night laying in my bed, and I actually had to stop and read it during the day. It’s at its […]

Who’s the stranger in this house?

July 27, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This book was a fast read for me.  I’m not saying that because I think it was good, it just kept the momentum going.  I was just talking to my friend who I borrowed it from, and I said that the writing was a little simplistic.  It seemed like the writing wasn’t pretty enough or something?  Like: “Tom was upset.  He got in his car and drove away.”  I don’t know, it could’ve used a little more emotion maybe.  “Tom angrily slammed his car door […]

It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine

July 27, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So I really liked this book. I read a series either earlier this year or last year by Joe Hart, and it was very different from this book.  I guess that series was still science fiction-y, like this one, but it still felt very different. We begin this book by meeting Gillian, as she’s basically getting into a car accident with her husband.  We learn that he has this terrible brain disease called Losian’s, that’s similar to Alzheimer’s, but affects all ages.  He’s starting to […]
