I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

Massssss Update #1!! Here are some books I read in the past few months that I didn’t love.

Castaways by Brian Keene

All These Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth

What You Did by Claire McGowan

Losing My Best Friend by Jeannie Wycherley

August 29, 2019 by kfishgirl 3 Comments

OK so the last time I posted a review was back in May.  It’s been a bit of a weird time since April.  I lost my pup of 10 years (he was 15), and I’ve been mourning him for a little bit.  He was my buddy for so long, and it took me / is still taking me some time to figure out life without him.  The first few weeks were weird because I was still worried about him.  Now I just miss him.  Here’s […]

Werewolves live among us

Red Moon by Benjamin Percy

May 21, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ugh.  OK.  This one was a little rough.  It was such a good concept, but it was sooooo slow.  I think the audiobook was about 20-21 hours.  It probably could’ve been 10 and it would’ve been better. The premise is that some people in the world are werewolves.  They were “infected” with a prion originated in wolves.  I nerdily enjoyed the backstory of the disease.  I could’ve listened to more about that! It starts out strong too.  Patrick Gamble is on a plane flying to […]

The Philadelphia Legal gang is back

An Engineered Injustice (Philadelphia Legal #2) by William L. Meyers Jr.

A Killer's Alibi (Philadelphia Legal #3) by William L. Meyers Jr.

May 21, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Ok guys, this is a two for one deal!  I ready the first book in this series a few years ago, and kinda lost track of the author.  Thankfully Amazon remembered, and let me know when two more books in this world were available. An Engineered Injustice is Book 2 in the Philadelphia Legal series.  Like I said above, I didn’t even know it was a thing.  Just as the first book centered around one of the lawyers in the group, this book centers around […]

The queen’s private hacker

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles book 4) by Marissa Meyer

April 29, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is the third book in the Lunar Chronicles series.  At the end of the last book, we got the whole gang together (Cinder, Thorn, Scarlet, and Wolf) to try and overthrow Queen Levana.  They decided to enlist the help of the queen’s own hacker named Cress.  Cinder and Thorn are most wanted fugitives, so they need all the help they can get. They find out about Cress, who is trapped in a satellite and under the thumb of Levana’s thomiturge (literally no clud how […]

John Rain is back

Redemption Games (John Rain #4) by Barry Eisler

Extremis (John Rain #5) by Barry Eisler

April 29, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is Book number four in the John Rain series. John’s last job didn’t go so smoothly, and he almost died in Hong Kong.  He’s also now working for the Mossad, and kinda sorta working with his sometimes girlfriend Delilah.  He gets hired to eliminate a target in Manila, and after tailing the man for a while, realizes that he has a family.  For some reason the kid’s face flashes before John’s eyes when he’s about to kill the man, and he can’t do it. […]

Your voice isn’t the only thing they can take away

Vox by Christina Dalcher

April 29, 2019 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

So this book took me a while to read.  It was an audiobook, so I usually listened to it after dinner while taking my dog for a walk.  It took a while because it was almost painful to read.  It’s set in a dystopian future where all women have a bracelet with a word counter on their arms.  They’re only allowed 100 words per day.  If they go over their count, they get burned.  Literally. We get dropped into a family with one daughter and […]
