I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

Of course the guy on trial for murder didn’t do it!

Dead Center (Andy Carpenter Book 5) Kindle Edition by David Rosenfelt

December 10, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is book five of the Andy Carpenter series.  I borrowed the audiobook (on CD) from my library.  I’m reading this series in whatever order I can grab the books.  I think I read 1, 2, and 8 already.  I have books 4 and 6 at my house from the library, but I just DO NOT read real books anymore.  Especially hardcovers – they’re so heavy!  I’m generally a laying down reader, and real books tend to fall on my face.  I like to read […]

I hated this book – whoever would put up with this crap (in the book) hates themselves!

Here to Stay by Mark Edwards

December 10, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

We start out with a guy named Elliot.  He’s got a nice house, a nice job, and a small fortune from doing science experiments on a TV show.  He’s graciously opened his garden up to visitors during the annual garden show in his town.  He seems like a good guy. Unfortunately a woman named Gemma shows up to the garden show and wanders around his yard.  Elliot gets stung by a bee while she’s there, and she drives him to the hospital, which is basically […]

Another creepy B. A. Paris story!

Bring Me Back by B. A. Paris

December 10, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

My friend and I got on a bit of a B.A. Paris kick this fall.  We read her first two books super quickly.  They weren’t a series or anything, just freaky books written by the same author.  This is the third one that we read.  I think I liked the other two more, but this one was still really good. We start this story with a flashback.  Finn and Layla are on vacation, and they’re driving home.  Finn goes to the bathroom at a rest […]

DI Gravel is interesting, but I’m not sure he’s great at his job?

Portraits of The Dead (DI Gravel Book 1) by John Nicholl

A Cold Cold Heart (DI Gravel Book 3) by John Nicholl

October 30, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Shockingly I started the DI Gravel series at book number two!  It was actually really good (as far as I can remember).  I definitely remember liking DI Gravel as a character.  Like I said in the title though, I’m not sure he’s great as an investigator.  I don’t think he actually solved the crimes in the second book, and I don’t think he actually solved the crimes in this first book either. The bad dude kidnaps a college student named Emma and keeps her a […]

Reading to dogs is fun!

Trick or Treat, Little Critter by Mercer Mayer

October 30, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I took my niece to something my library calls Dog Tales on Monday.  Once a month they bring therapy dogs into the library for an hour or so, and have kids who are just starting to read sit on the floor with the dogs and read to them.  It’s pretty awesome, because obviously the dogs don’t judge how well the kids are reading.  The kids gain confidence in their reading and get to pet some really cute dogs at the same time. So I got […]

Something that happened in the ’80’s can be history, right?

Robert Pickton: The Pig Farmer Serial Killer (Crimes Canada: True Crimes That Shocked The Nation Book 1) by Chris Swinney

October 30, 2019 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So my friend got me started listening to a true crime podcast based on the most recent story she heard.  It was about a pig farmer named Robert Pickton.  He was apparently a semi-notorious Canadian serial killer.  I didn’t even know that Canada had serial killers! She told me about a book that they kept mentioning, but it was like $15 and I didn’t feel like spending any money that day, so I borrowed the Kindle Unlimited version of the story from Amazon.  Well, it […]
