I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

Space horror is my jam

Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes

July 12, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

One of my top horrors is space. Another one is under the sea (like deep under the sea). I also don’t like to fly, and caves freak me out. I never thought I was a control freak until I realized that the thing that scares me the most about these things is that I’m not in control. I can’t “get out” of whatever I’m in (space ship, submarine, airplane, etc) when I want to. As far as space, under the ocean, and caves, I have […]

With the earliest cannonball in the history of Kfishgirl, I shall review this disappointing book!

(Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI #4) The Reaper Follows by Heather Graham

May 2, 2024 by kfishgirl 5 Comments

I think my earliest Cannonball in Kfishgirl history (before today) was October of last year. Prior to that I was usually still doing reviews on like December 31st and trying to get them all in. I would like to credit my reading accomplishments this year to hand surgery! I was off work for three weeks, and I think I read 11 books in those three weeks. They gave me a nice push to finish early. I guess since we’re not even at June yet I’ll […]

I tried to like this book. I just could not.

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver

May 1, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I really tried with this book. I borrowed the Kindle version a few months ago and got multiple hours into it. Then I just could not continue with the never-ending trauma / bad luck / shitty situations this kid was in. I guess my bad feelings went away, because I saw my sister had the Audible version last week. I gave it another shot. I started like two hours in, because I knew I had gotten at least that far. I probably listened for another […]

Jack is back! Except nobody ever calls him Jack.

(Jack Reacher #4) Running Blind by Lee Child

May 1, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

We meet up with our intrepid Reacher as he’s eating at an Italian restaurant he likes in New York. He sees two thugs trying to shake down the manager. As we know Jack Reacher, this will not stand. He decides that he’s going to take care of the problem before it becomes a problem. He asks the manager when the guys will be back for money, and then he intercepts them outside. Unfortunately, he’s being watched by two FBI agents while he smacks them around […]

More Alien Smut!

(Icehome #4) Angie's Gladiator by Ruby Dixon

(Icehome #7) Nadine's Champion by Ruby Dixon

April 30, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

Here we go again with blue alien smut! Actually the two main aliens in these two books are red. So we’ll go with red alien smut. I continue to have issues with the “mating is only for procreation” themes in these books, but they’re still fun for me, and like I said in my previous review, I’m a part time escapist! Nothing screams escapist more than RED ALIEN PORN. Sorry, sometimes I go with the more demure “smut”, but it really is basically alien porn. […]

Another Stone Barrington romp

(Stone Barrington #8) The Short Forever by Stuart Woods

April 30, 2024 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This Stone Barrington novel picks up a few months after Cold Paradise ended. Stone is waiting for Callie in Elaines, and she shows up late and married to the billionaire in the previous book. I’d say poor Stone, but he’ll be rolling around with another woman in no time. Stone is then hired (seemingly randomly as always) by John Bartholomew to find his niece overseas where she was swindled by a conman.   Of course, all of Stone’s expenses are paid, and he’s traveling and […]
