I love to read!

KB's Reviews:

For those who love Paris

June 3, 2018 by KB 4 Comments

A very different book for me. I am currently enjoying crime/mystery/suspense novels. This one does not fall into those categories. This book is a mystery I guess, though not of the crime type. It is about a lady whose husband goes missing. She finds tickets her husband left for her to go to Paris with her daughters. The novel follows the wife and their two daughters as they move to Paris, run a bookstore and try to deal with the unknown surrounding the whereabouts of […]

No title can do this book justice.

I love love love this book! The Dry, by Jane Harper was absolutely fantastic and beautifully written. This book is just as good. Whilst it doesn’t contain the same beautiful descriptions of places and people, it excels in being a great mystery. This book is about a team building exercise where a group of guys and ladies head out to bond. All of the men return on time, the women are late back and one of them does not return. The mystery is around […]

Be careful who you talk to!

June 3, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

I enjoyed reading this book. It is the first Roberta Kray book I have read, and I will certainly be reading a lot more! This basic concept of this text is that Sadie is looking for her ex husband so that she can get him to sign the divorce papers and move on with her life. Whilst on a train to where he is, she has a brief conversation with a lady named Mona. Mona strikes up a deal where she will get rid of […]

A modern Shakespeare

June 2, 2018 by KB 1 Comment

What a fabulous read!!! I am a big fan of Shakespeare and am fast becoming a big fan of Margaret Atwood. This book is a modern take of The Tempest. What is fascinating about it, compared to other modern adaptations is the way is winds the play within the story, with the story itself. The story follows Felix, an Artistic Director. It begins with him preparing to put on the play, The Tempest. You learn that both his wife and more recently daughter, have passed […]

A fabulous follow up to “Mockingbird.”

May 21, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

What a shame that Harper Lee only published two books. Her writing is just perfection. She has an amazing blend of beauty, humour, reality, harshness, innocence and darkness which she balances perfectly. Harper is also very skilled in saying a lot, with minimal words. Whilst reading this book I took notice of how every word in the book is vital, she does not waste any words on unnecessary dialogue, descriptions or filler. This book follows on from To Kill a Mockingbird, with the same […]

What a woman!!!

May 21, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

I am not a huge fan of non fiction, I will read a biography if I am interested in the person, but a biography/memoir is not something I would generally grab from the shelf. However when my book club picked this book, I dutifully went and read it. This is a difficult book for me to rate and review. On one hand, Cheryl is a fascinating and amazing human being. The events she has experienced and her journey on the hike are incredibly interesting. Her […]
