I love to read!

You have redeemed yourself Janet.

Surprisingly a good read! I have read all of the Stephanie Plum books and have begun to not enjoy them as much, as they are very similar. I have also been finding the whole love triangle to become monotonous. So, having read a whole pile of suspense crime novels this year, I’m not sure if that changed my perspective on the book, or if I was sick of the love triangle so wasn’t interested in that side of the story, or if Janet actually […]

Get the tissues ready for this one!

In rounding off my challenge for the year, I thought I would end on some of my favourite books. So I chose to reread Marley and Me. And yes, I loved it just as much this time as I did the first time I read it back in 2006. And yes, I cried just as much this time as well! John writes a memoir of life with his dog Marley. But the book looks at much more than just the antics of a dog. […]

Wait, what?

December 22, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

I shall make it known before I begin that I am not a Tim Winton fan. I have read a couple of his books and have not enjoyed them at all.  However, in getting to the end of the challenge, I needed to read a few preloved books, or quick books, to ensure I made my target (which I will). So, without waiting for Christmas books, and with no further visits to the library, I chose a few books from our book case, which I […]

A 6 Star book!!!!

December 12, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

I love this book so much. I read it a couple of years ago for my book club and thought it was the best book of that year. This book focuses on the central character Wolf. The book alternates between current events and events that occurred in Wolf’s past. Current event involves Wolf on top of a mountain where he plans to commit suicide, however he comes across a group of 3 ladies that require his help finding the secret lake. In assisting them, they […]

How do you read a book after seeing the movie?

December 12, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

To review this book I need to analyse it in three parts based on the movie, fairy tale and how it has been written. Disclaimer: I saw the movie before reading the book. As any avid reader would know, that is pretty much illegal and does not allow you to give a subjective critique of the book as you will always compare it to the movie, as well as the thrill of what to come has been taken from you. So, all that I […]

You really should read this one!

December 3, 2018 by KB Leave a Comment

A surprisingly powerful book. I read this book a few years ago and for some reason I didn’t enjoy it much. However I had some friends read it recently and tell me how much they enjoyed it, so I figured I should read it again. And yes, I enjoyed it a lot more this time. I have no idea why I didn’t like it last time, my only reason might have been how detailed and wordy it is. The book focuses on a small […]
