Four Weddings to Fall in Love by Jackie Lau

July 18, 2023 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Max is the oldest of the Mok brothers. He’s a relationship guy, and a bit starchy. After some bad experiences, Kim doesn’t do relationships. They are going to see each other at 4 weddings over a few months. Three of Max’s cousins are getting married in one summer. Kim’s mother and Max’s aunt are good friends. Not only are they going to be at three wedding together – both their families will be there too. (I would put a cry/laugh emoji or gif here.) At […]

Fit for the Gods: Greek Mythology Reimagined by Jenn Northington and S. Zainab Williams

July 15, 2023 by Emmalita 2 Comments

Zoraida Cordova knows what’s what. Her story, “The Gorgon Confessionals,” opens Fit for the Gods by imagining that the gods, immortals, heroes and villains of Greek mythology are regenerating into the modern world, they have their memories, but not necessarily their powers. Through a documentary series, Melpomene, the Muse of Tragedy, is examining the story of Medusa and Perseus through a series of interviews. Zeus is a Republican candidate for President. (Vote Hades!). The stories by two of my favorite authors, Suleikha Snyder and Alyssa Cole […]

Magic Tides and Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews

July 15, 2023 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

This year Ilona Andrews has graced us with two (2!) new Kate Daniels books. The two novellas have been gathered into a 2 audiobook collection. Hillary Huber does the bulk of the narration with Michael Glenn narrating Curran’s point of view chapters. I’ve been reading the Kate Daniels books for more than a decade, but this is the first time I’ve listened to a Kate Daniels audiobook. It took me a while to warm up to Huber’s voice. I don’t love her style, but it’s […]

Even though very little had gone to plan that evening, one thing had been clear – Cade was a really good guy.

Kitten Caboodle by Candace Harper

July 12, 2023 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

If you have not read any of the multi author Clover Hill romances, you can start with Kitten Caboodle by Candace Harper and then go back and read the rest. Clover Hill is a queer small town with a vibrant community. I love these romances because they are a vision of what could be while also being firmly grounded in reality. I would move to Clover Hill if I could. Cade has been managing his boss’ chiropractic shop for a while. When his boss offers […]
