The Anti-Social Season by Adele Buck

October 22, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Adele Buck’s lovely and quiet The Anti-Social Season is for those of us who find the holidays stressful, but still love some parts of it. It’s for the people who have to deal with unreasonable family demands, and co-workers who think they can do your job better. It’s for those of us who don’t want to be perceived, except by the right person. And it’s for those of us who have had to make big life changes because of anxiety. Thea and Simon went to high […]

Quinn, I’m serious. I think I killed a man. I think I killed…Santa.

The Merriest Misters by Timothy Janovsky

October 16, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Quinn and Patrick are about to celebrate their first Christmas as husband and husband, and the way things are going, it might also be their last. They are stretched financially paying for a house they don’t like that needs a lot of repairs, Patrick offered to host Christmas without checking with Quinn, and they aren’t communicating. Things look grim when Patrick mistakes Santa for a burglar and smacks him with a frying pan, twice. Now Patrick and Quinn have to save this Christmas and next […]

This is not a victim rushing to meet her savior. This is a queen considering whether to treat with an enemy.

Desperate Measures (Deluxe Edition) by Katee Robert

October 14, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

One of my favorite things I’ve overheard in a bookstore was one shopper hand selling a Katee Robert book to another shopper by saying, “they are a chaos peddler of joy and smut!” No lies detected. Katee Robert’s books are fun. They are a good time and they don’t make me feel bad about enjoying them because Robert is intentional in their writing. Desperate Measures, the first in Robert’s Wicked Villains series is being rereleased with a change to the main character’s name, lots of […]

A Nicely Done Cookbook

Dinner in One Take by Bo Corley

October 9, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Dinner in One Take has some interesting recipes and is well done with engaging text and attractive photos of the food and beverages. It’s not the right cookbook for my life at this time, but if you have a grill and many fewer food sensitivities this could be a great cookbook for you. If you enjoy cocktails, the last chapter, The Beverage Lab, is a good reason to but this book. I requested this from Net Galley because I was interested in it’s tagline, “weeknight-friendly […]
