My husband Jason and I are wonder twin cancer survivors! Sadly, all the radiation did not make us bionic...yet. I've done two quarter Cannonballs successfully now, and this year I'm going for a half.

Fall 2019 Needs to Hurry Up

Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu

February 28, 2019 by Debcapsfan 1 Comment

This is a collection of a web comic created by Ngozi Ukazu about the fictional Samwell hockey team. It’s one of NPR’s best books of 2018, but I found it through the Puck Soup hockey podcast. If you don’t like/know anything about hockey and found college to be less than great you will still enjoy this. I love hockey and laughed so hard. But it’s much more about the relationships between friends during a couple of years of their lives. The main character is Eric […]

Twitter Can Be Fun

Destiny's Surrender by Beverly Jenkins

February 15, 2019 by Debcapsfan 1 Comment

3.5 stars I started following Beverly Jenkins on Twitter because someone told her to “check her white privilege.” Romance twitter is fun and she is fun. (Don’t cross any of the romance authors on twitter though because they will eat you alive.) So today’s my birthday and I found out we share a birthday and it’s all very exciting. Anyhoo, I enjoyed this book. It’s very steamy, Billie is a whore and Andrew is an attorney and land owner. That’s certainly one way to work […]

This SHOULD have been a duology

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

January 29, 2019 by Debcapsfan 1 Comment

The Renegades series by Marissa Meyer was supposed to be a duology. The first book, Renegades, tells the story of Gatlin City, a far distant US (probably) where people with super powers started appearing, and chaos quickly descended. A group of anarchists ruled the city, with the help of gangs. (It is unclear if members of the gangs have powers, or are just not nice people.) The Anarchists are overthrown by a group with powers (called prodigies) known as the Renegades. At the start of […]

Cheating Death Never Ends Well

Vicious by VE Schwab

January 20, 2019 by Debcapsfan 2 Comments

I have a cute model, so here you go. 🙂 I got this from Ale as part of the Cannonball read book exchange. I read it only in the daytime, because I am wimpy. Vicious tells the story of two college boys Victor and Eli who start experimenting with cheating death to become EOs, people with extraordinary abilities. There are a lot of interesting ideas in here about good and evil and souls. Eli gets his abilities and becomes a vigilante, killing other people who […]

Book exchange 2018

December 26, 2018 by Debcapsfan Leave a Comment

Pictured…my very boring desk at work. Thank you Ale for the lovely goodies, especially the socks (I teared up a little, I’m not going to lie.) This community is the best! Smoochies.

We are never meeting….

December 12, 2018 by Debcapsfan Leave a Comment

3.5 Stars After I read the lovely The Prince and the Dressmaker, I went looking for more books by the same author, Jen Wang. I found In Real Life, which she wrote with Cory Doctorow. I really liked his book Little Brother, but I never got around to reading the sequel. I liked this book too, but it was very preachy. The story is about Anda, who spends a lot of her time playing Coarsegold Online, an MMO where she is a badass redheaded fighter. […]
