Innkeeper Kicks Butt!

Sweep of the Blade by Ilona Andrews

September 30, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Update: Read the published full length novella and oh boy. I loved it. I loved it! I loved that Ilona Andrews gave us Maud’s POV at the beginning, prior to her going off with Arland to his House’s planet. We get to see how she carried herself more prior to Dina finding her and Helen. We also get to see her first impressions of Arland and Sean. And we even get to witness them sparring. I loved seeing the illustrations in full cover in my […]

The Skin You Are In…

Emergency Skin by N. K. Jemisin

September 30, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Definitely going to read the other stories in this collection. This was a wonderful way to pass the day in bed on Sunday. Also this weekend in the U.S. we should be seeing a  cool down. There is even snow happening in some parts. And as for me I am going leaf peeping. So this book was the perfect thing to read especially with the discussion of climate change going on. So “Emergency Skin” follows an unseen narrator talking to someone who is going […]

Holy Crap! And Damn!

Summer Frost by Blake Crouch

September 30, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Woo boy. Blake Crouch put his foot in this short story. Damn. I loved every part of it and think if he can stick the landing like this in his stand-alone novels he would be a instant buy author for me in the future. “Summer Frost” was wonderfully done from beginning to end. I swear this read like the best Black Mirror episode ever. Which is saying something since the past two seasons I have been meh towards Black Mirror. “Summer Frost” follows Riley who […]

The End…Or a New Beginning

Ark by Veronica Roth

September 30, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I was worried I wouldn’t like this one since I hard disliked Roth’s “Divergent.” This book though hit me in a way I wasn’t expecting. Roth talks about the last days on Earth before an asteroid hits and wipes out life on the planet as people know it. What I found interesting is that many people realized this was going to happen and that they still went on, had children, etc. That part of the book was interesting to me. I wish that Roth had […]

Christian Romance Readers May Like This?

The Saturday Night Supper Club by Carla Laureano

September 30, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

There’s a question mark in my review title because honestly I am not a Christian romance reader. I am also highly annoyed Amazon didn’t mark this as Christian romance via my Kindle Store because I hard pass Christian romances. I feel uncomfortable reading about people talking about God and acting as if everything good that happens is due to God and when something bad happens, think that praying harder is what they need to do. I don’t know. Probably because I was raised in the […]

Even More Annoyed Now

The Saturday Supper Club by Amy Miller

September 30, 2019 by Classic 10 Comments

So I accidentally got this via Kindle Unlimited when I was trying to buy another book. I decided to give it a go and instantly wished I passed. I finished it though because I was hoping the author wasn’t going to go where she was signaling from the beginning, too bad, she did. I hated the entire ending of this book and thought it was more of a HFN, then a HEA, due to not being dropped on the head. I am always on the […]
