Unknown Number

Unknown Number by Blue Neustifter

July 8, 2022 by Classic 7 Comments

I just read this about half an hour ago and this was wonderful. The plot, flow, and the two characters we get to meet in this will do your heart in. I just honestly wish it had been longer, but alas, short story. “Unknown Number” follows a person getting a text message from an unknown caller. The unknown caller seems to know a lot about them and starts telling them personal things. And then the texts take a turn and leads one to wonder about […]

Nightwork

Nightwork by Nora Roberts

July 8, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

I think it’s time for Roberts to just write a straight up mystery and forget about the romance side of things. You can feel her itching to do it. This is supposedly romantic suspense, but it’s so light on that it feels like a misnomer to categorize it as such. It doesn’t help that we follow a character (Harry Booth) that is so morally grey you have to wonder why Roberts has him as our “hero.” “Nightwork” follows Harry Booth who at age 9 starts […]

Well I think that I will wrap up my “In Death” mini-reading spree with these. I will probably come back to the series to “catch up” so to speak with my reviews down the line. I have read the entire series and novellas, I just never had much of the energy to go back and post reviews on Amazon. A few years back there was a huge blow up in the “In Death” community when there was a big issued with a huge continuity error […]

Well one thing about COVID and the state of the world, all I have been able to do past few days is read. I have been able to get through my library backlog, but I also really really wanted a comfort read. I tried to start The Chronicles of Narnia and started to get annoyed so set that series aside (will get back to it around Christmas I think) and then wandered around my shelves at home and was like I really need something […]

The Party Crasher

The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella

July 1, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Just a so-so Kinsella book. FYI, this is not a romance, this is women’s fiction. The main character (Effie) story is focused on her family and those relationships. There is an ex (isn’t there always?) but that whole thing is not the most important part of the book. And honestly the why behind the break up was so damn dumb I refuse to award any points for shoehorning this into this book. The flow of this one was pretty awful. Effie who is almost 30 […]

The Therapist

The Therapist by B.A. Paris

July 1, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Good grief, this book at times is unintentionally funny. The main character of Alice really does need a therapist, or at least some common sense. Most of this book was her doing her amateur deductions about the neighbors and ignoring the big old red flag that is in her face. This was just an okay thriller that will pass the time if you are in desperate need for a beach read. “The Therapist” follows couple Alice and Leo who have moved into a gated community […]
