I think it’s time for Roberts to just write a straight up mystery and forget about the romance side of things. You can feel her itching to do it. This is supposedly romantic suspense, but it’s so light on that it feels like a misnomer to categorize it as such. The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella
Just a so-so Kinsella book. FYI, this is not a romance, this is women’s fiction. The main character (Effie) story is focused on her family and those relationships. There is an ex (isn’t there always?) but that whole thing is not the most important part of the book. Good grief, this book at times is unintentionally funny. The main character of Alice really does need a therapist, or at least some common sense. Most of this book was her doing her amateur deductions about the neighbors and ignoring the big old red flag that is in her face.
