You Had Me at Cupcake

Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan

May 31, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this new edition via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be re-released on July 2, 2019.  So this is my second time reading this and I really enjoyed it again. The first time I read this was way back in 2016. I was able to race through some parts though just because I already knew how this was going to end. I still liked Issy though I found her frustrating, I 100 percent enjoyed […]

Nice Blend of Science Fiction and Suspense

The Perfect Wife by JP Delaney

May 31, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGalley for free. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be released on August 6, 2019.  So, I was pretty vocal about how badly I disliked “The Girl Before.” So you are probably wondering what in the world caused me to willingly pick out “The Perfect Wife” to review. Well, I heard that it had a lot of science fiction elements in it and since I want to read more science fiction this […]

A Great Deliverance Packs a Punch

A Great Deliverance by Elizabeth George

May 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Wow. Just wow. So going to say first off that this book starts off slow. I found myself getting bored with Inspector Lynley and with Havers. Lynley felt too distance and Havers started driving me mad with her self-sabotage. But the more we get into the case that has them in their grips the more I wanted to keep reading. It took me getting to almost 40 percent though before I became seriously engrossed in this one. The characters we are introduced too had me […]

Great for Constant Readers…3 Stars for Others

Lisey's Story by Stephen King

May 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

When I read this book years ago I remember loving it and even crying while reading. Now I see the flaws in this book all over the place. It doesn’t help that at the time I had not read most of King’s works so I didn’t see how he heavily “borrowed” from his other stories. If you are a Castle Rock fan this book is full of Easter eggs for you. Heck, if you are a King fan you can seriously see parts of this […]

I Can’t Think of a Good Title….Hot Mess???

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks

May 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Trigger warning: Suicide.   Wow. So I had inklings this one wasn’t going to go well with the pop up questions and people waiting on me to finish this on Goodreads. BTW, thanks for not giving a heads up on how bad this was going to be people! I was looking for a slow burn psychological thriller and this turned into nothing that made coherent sense with the women going to increasingly lengths for men or over secrets that would have people going who cares. “An […]

Early Jill Mansell Re-Release….Not my Cup of Tea

Kiss by Jill Mansell

May 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I received this book for free via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be released on August 1, 2019.  So this book was published in 1993, and boy does it show. I think a few times Mansell probably went through and tried to update (she brings up Harry Styles at one point) but other dated references are still here (a new release of an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie). I could have overlooked that if the story had been good. Too […]
