The Third Pandava Sister Enters

Aru Shah and the Song of Death by Roshani Chokshi

June 21, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Not too much to say here except that this was  fun ride with Aru. I think that Chokshi did a great job with the adventure story-line while still giving a fun flavor to old stories that Aru, Mimi and the newest additions have heard about. We also had a great set-up into the next book as well. ‘Aru Shah and the Song of Death” has soul sisters Aru and Mimi trying to track down a thief who stole the god of Love’s bow and arrow. […]

Wonderful Follow Up to Sorry Not Sorry

It's Not You It's Him by Sophie Ranald

June 14, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that I received this book via NetGally for free. This did not affect my rating or review. This book will be published on June 18, 2019.  This was hands down one of my favorite reads this year. I already read “Sorry Not Sorry” and was fretting about what would come next for Tansy. Ranald does such a great job of showing Tansy during her school years, present day, and in select moments during her relationship with her ex Renzo. Ranald also does a […]

Almost a Favorite!

Well-Schooled in Murder by Elizabeth George

June 14, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I really don’t know what to say except this was a very well thought out mystery. Lynley and Havers shine in this one. The why behind the murder made me sad and what made me even more sad is that you see what other ugliness was going on at Bredgar Chambers. The only reason why I didn’t favorite this one is that the Deborah and St. James sub-plot was beyond aggravating. “Well-Schooled in Murder” takes 2 months after the last book in the series. Lynley […]

Packs a Punch

Stolen Prey by John Sandford

June 14, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Not too much to say about this one besides it was action packed from beginning to end. When Lucas finally catches on to what is happening the book really ratchets up the tension. That said, it’s getting old with Lucas’s family in peril. At this point he just needs to hire an off duty security guy because the bad guys always stupidly decide to try to take him out. I thought it was great to increase more of Del, Jenkins, and the guys. Thought it […]

Should Have Stuck with One POV; Also the Book Was Pretty Grim

Hope and Other Punchlines by Julie Buxbaum

June 14, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

I really wish I had liked this one more. Too bad that it was just full of cliches and one main character (Noah) I disliked from beginning to end. I thought Abbi was fine, but she honestly needed a life since she seemed wholly dependent on her ex-best friend Cat to give her a social life. And I also kind of hated that Abbi was fine with forgiving Noah and his whole blackmail thing, but didn’t want to try to make up with Cat. I […]

History of Those Who Have Left Us

Case Histories by Kate Atkinson

June 14, 2019 by Classic 2 Comments

I went back and forth on this one. I think in the end that one of the story-lines that we get introduced to ends up making no sense and was just used to introduce a character who would become important later. Two of the case histories I thought were done very well. That said, I ended up not liking a good portion of the characters we meet except for Jackson and Theo. Everyone else…eh. I also don’t know if I liked the ending that much […]
