‘Snowball: Chronicles of a Wererabbit’ is a story of a white-haired wererabbit as she grows up and learns the dangers of the world around her. The story begins with the rescue of baby Snowball, following her rescuer as he takes care of her and waits for her to shift into human form. This development takes a bit of time and while I was intrigued by the story and very much enjoyed the gentle sense of humour during this part, I was thrilled when Snow started […]

Beware the Creepy Carnival

April 11, 2015 by chettsgenie Leave a Comment

‘The Dark Carnival’ is a collection of 41 short horror stories with a creepy carnival setting. I picked this up because I’ve been really into short story collections recently and the theme really appealed to me. The collection gets off to a shaky start with a story that had real potential, but felt like a teaser for a longer story rather than a stand alone short. There were a few stories that seemed to end suddenly like this, and several of the worst culprits for […]

Five Short and Creepy Tales of Terror

April 9, 2015 by chettsgenie Leave a Comment

‘Dark Screams: Volume One’ contains five horror tales from some very well known authors in the genre. I’ve really been in to horror anthologies lately so this collection was a must buy. I had it on my wish list to remind me to buy it soon, and I then noticed the price had dropped so I snapped it up! I have to say, for me this was worth getting for the Stephen King & Kelley Armstrong stories alone.  I love the movie Creepshow and King’s […]

Teen Romance VS A Zombie Uprising

March 14, 2015 by chettsgenie Leave a Comment

‘Journal of the Undead: Littleville Uprising’ is the story of twins Emma and Matt as they move to Littleville and try to fit in. As it turns out they will soon have more to worry about than typical teenage high school dramas as a zombie uprising is on the horizon.   I got very easily engrossed in this book right from the beginning – this is an entertaining read with no filler, and it’s very character focused, which I love! I’ve been less impressed by […]

Roll with the Insanity, it’s Amazeballs

February 14, 2015 by chettsgenie 1 Comment

‘Kill Ball’ is the story of a lonely guy, Colin, who accidentally caused his mother’s death when he was a kid. All he’s ever wanted was to be held, but the increasingly isolated world he lives in has made this desire impossible. He becomes obsessed with a stripper he believes he has a special connection with. A killer is stalking the streets and seems to have his sights set on Colin’s girl. Oh yeah, and everyone rolls around in giant hamster balls. How could I […]

The Best Way To Get Tanked Up On Zombies

February 5, 2015 by chettsgenie Leave a Comment

‘Tankbread 2: Immortal’ is the continuing tale of one extraordinary woman’s journey through a zombie apocalypse. The story begins with heroine Else giving birth to her son. Else was my favourite character in the first book – she’s pretty kick-ass – so I was glad to find out she was now the main character. I wasn’t sure how well the story would pan out, or how gruesome it would get, with Else having to take care of a new-born in this vicious, zombie-infested landscape. There […]
