A new romance series about the survivors of war

January 16, 2016 by Beth Ellen 10 Comments

So this year in the romance department I’m delving deeper into new authors with new series. Ellepkay has been recommending the Survivor’s Club series to me for quite a while now (probably close to a year), but starting in the late fall I decided to save some of these up for the hours and hours I will be sitting still under the heaviest thing in the world (although sleeping kittens are pretty much as heavy as a baby). The Survivor’s Club is a group of […]

A Well Written Family Drama

January 4, 2016 by Beth Ellen Leave a Comment

So for my first non-romance review of the year I completely overcorrected and went the extreme and depressing family drama route. Huzzah! It was just slightly less depressing than it first appeared so I’m taking it as a win.   Everything I Never Told You is the story of the Lee family. On the first page you find out that their beloved middle child has died. What unfolds is both the backstory of how this came about, but at the same time what is occurring […]

New Year New Romance

January 1, 2016 by Beth Ellen 2 Comments

To start off the new year I obviously need to start with a romance that I read right at the end of 2015. Last year about two thirds of my reads were romances, and those percentages aren’t looking to change much this year, although I do have a fair amount of non-romance that I’d like to get to.   To start the year off right we have Suddenly One Summer by Julie James, a contemporary romance that’s part of her FBI/Attorney series she’s been doing. […]

Cannonball Exchange, Huzzah!

December 18, 2015 by Beth Ellen 3 Comments

Thank you Alexis! This was one awesome package to receive! Shortbread, books, and previously loved library books?! All of my favorite things (seriously). I’ve been hearing great things from my sister (aka her asking a lot if I’ve read them yet) about the Deanna Raybourn series so woooooo for getting the first two! And what’s even more impressive is I’ve wanted to start the Riyaria series of books for a while, but instead of the one I put on my list (which turns out to […]

A Romance Novella to reach… Cannonball!

December 18, 2015 by Beth Ellen 21 Comments

So I actually read this one the day it came out the other week, but haven’t had a chance to review and actually accomplish all my reading goals for the year on account of reproducing. Currently I have a few blissful moments in between feedings so I shall take them to finish out my Cannonball! This time we have a novella by Tessa Dare, who was actually the first author I read this year (A Week to be Wicked), and that was my first book […]

A delightful fluff of a romance

December 5, 2015 by Beth Ellen 8 Comments

So I’ve actually had this one on my TBR list since all the way back to CBR5. Someone posted about this fun, light contemporary romance so onto my list it went. Fastforward a few years to an extremely pregnant lady with the attention span of a gnat. This was the perfect book to pick up for a few evenings while trying to make it through some awesome Braxton Hicks. This is the story of Cade Morgan, Assistant US Attorney extraordinaire, and Brooke Parker, general consul […]
