I Really Wanted to Punch Her Parents… A Lot

July 8, 2016 by Andrea Krieter 1 Comment

The Glass Castle Rating: 3/5 Summary: This is the memoir of Jeannette Walls and her dysfunctional family. She has a very unorthodox childhood, which some may call negligence or even abuse on her parent’s part. It’s the story of how one can lose faith in people after so many defeats. But it’s also the story of how perseverance and determination can get you out of a tough situation. So many things happened in this book, it’s tough to nail down exactly what to say. It’s […]

Hated this Textbook

June 30, 2016 by Andrea Krieter Leave a Comment

While the authors had good intentions, I was thoroughly disappointed in this book. The whole premise of this book is so that educators can use YA as a teaching aide. However, the authors have only thinly disguised their preference for classics. The tone I found while reading is that “Oh this YA book is good… but classics are still better.” and “teenagers won’t change their views/perspectives based off books!”. Both these statement are total bullshit for me so I highly disagreed with their opinions and […]
